**At the request of a few people I have made this post “sticky” which means for the next day or so it will always be on the top of my blog. If you have already read it, just ignore it. If not I would love to have you join me in the journey of blogging full time!**
Today I joined the millions of Americans who have gotten laid off as a result of the economy. I had no warning that it was coming, so I am still digesting the information. I figured I would write this post when I am in calm mode instead of freaked out mode!
And while I am not thrilled about the loss of my secure income I am excited about the possibilities that this opens up for the blog. I will have more time to devote to finding deals and spreading the frugalness!
However I can not make the blog successful without you (and since the blog is FOR you that works out beautifully)!
People want to know how to help, so here is a list of what you can do for me:
1. Tell a friend about A Frugal Chick– Spread the Savings Around
2. Book a Coupon Class or Tutoring Session– If you like what you see here and want to learn more I would love to teach you. I offer a coupon class and one on one tutoring. Also now that my days are open I am available for MOPS groups or any other small group during the day who would be interested. There are nominal fees for these classes and I would be happy to discuss them. Just shoot me an e-mail!
3. PR/Advertise with Me!– If you have a product or service that fits with the theme of A Frugal Chick I would love to do a giveaway or have you place an ad on my site. Just drop me an e-mail and we can chat about it!
4. Print Your Coupons With Me!– If you see a coupon on my site that you will use, click directly on that link to print it. I get a little bit of credit for coupons printed both by clicking in my posts and when people print from the coupon printing ads on my blog.
5. Do Your Shopping With Me!- If I post a deal and you want to buy it, click directly on the link in that post. Sometimes they are stores that I have a special affiliate relationship with and they will pay me a percentage of what you spend. The same applies for any deal of the day sites (Groupon, Living Social etc). Also if you shop Amazon I would love it if you stopped by here first and checked out the Deal of the Day ad on the right hand side of my site. By clicking on that not only are you seeing a great deal but any items you buy after that click I will receive credit for.
I promise that this blog never has been and never will be just about making money. I try very hard to only find the best deals out there and not be swayed by inferior products or deals that aren’t really that good. This blog is for you in hopes that the information you find here can make a better life for you and your family.

Oh, I am so sorry. Both my husband and I have had career changes/adjustments due to the economy – I know how hard it is. Good thing we are frugal – and patient! Good things come to those who make themselves available to the road untraveled. I wish you the best…

My first visit to your site, and I feel blessed already. I’m one of the ones who knows she needs to begin the coupon adventure, but don’t take the time. I work very part time cleaning homes in order to be home when the kids get home from school. I’ve lost 5 jobs in the last year and they have not been replaced. This was just after committing to a land campain at church! Hopefully this will be the beginning of helping to make up for the loss of income. God always promises to use ‘bad’ for good!!! Sorry to hear of your job loss too. Keep focusing UP!

Laura, My husband and I were sorry to hear about your job loss but rest assured that it is just a way of opening new doors and opportunities for you. We make it a point of watching you on Sunday mornings and look forward to the savings you point out. We intend to tell more of our friends about your blog and attending or possibly scheduling one of your classes. Thanks and best of luck to you in 2011.

I am very sorry to hear this but this is what is happening daily in our country. I will do what I can to spread the word, I give out your website almost everyday to customers, a man was in the other day with a list for his wife and coupons and I asked him if she uses your website and he said “no, write it down for me”. So it is a small thing but it helps. I will try and follow all your suggestions noted. Best of luck to you and this might be the opportunity you have waited for. You should push for a show of your own on a local network? Have you ever thought of that? So many people couponing now, you would be a natural on TV! Kim

I was laid-off one year ago yesterday. I decided to buckle down and make the most of what I can do. I tried job searching but market is extremely unkind to those of us over the hill…even though we have valuable job experience. What I lost in income I gained in savings. It’s truly unbelieveable how much we spend to “go to work”. Hubby bought me the “Coupon Mom” book and I studied and learned how to cut grocery spending in half. I have my pantries stocked full and the freezer. I now have a beautiful 3-ring binder notebook all setup and I take it with me everywhere. I even made one for my sister, who uses it faithfully. I clip, I read, I study…and every minute has paid off. I look forward to Sunday mornings to watch you on WVEC 13 as you are the highlight of my week. The information you give is so valuable. You never know Laura what our good Lord has in mind for you. You have no idea what a kind and giving serve you do for others…and this is what we are here to do….”give”. Thank you and God Bless you….you will come out on top….take a long good breath and smile…you have a lot of work ahead that obviously you thoroughly enjoy!

I love your site. You have been very helpful for me over the past year. I always quote you and recommend your site to my friends. Please keep up the great work. Over the past year, I have not been able to cordinate a coupon class. However, I will try to get my friends together for a class within the next month. Thanks for everything. I look forward to all of the great information that you have to provide.

Sorry to hear about your status change. I know first hand how suddenly it can be thrust upon one. I have also come to believe that even those who believe they are safe and their jobs are “secure” need to see we are living in a different world.
You have a positive attitude going for you. Find something every day to smile about. Remind yourself of dreams you wanted to pursue and put on the back burner. Start taking steps toward them each day. See this change as opportunity.
I will help by suggesting your blog to friends.
