What is Amazon Prime Day 2017?
A big sale for Amazon Prime members. Amazon has done this since 2015 in the second week in July. Limited numbers of items will be sold in flash sales – this is often where you’ll find the best offers but there are plenty that last all day long as well.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2017?
Amazon’s day of deals will actually run for 30 hours this year. It will kick off at 9 pm ET on July 10 and run until 3 am ET on July 12. Throughout Prime Day’s run, new deals will be offered every five minutes, the company says. There are some deals that will be released beginning on the 8th but nothing with the frequency we will see on the 11th.
Things That Are True
Some Sales Start Before Prime Day
This is absolutely true. In fact some deals have already started. Be sure I will always let you know what the best deals are!
Here are the things that have let us know:
July 6 – Amazon Music
July 7 – Prime Video
July 8 – Everyday Essentials
July 9 – Reading with Prime
July 10 – Prime Day early sales begin at 9 p.m.
Other Stores Have Sales On Prime Day Too
No way are other stores going to miss out on people opening their wallets. Look for deals at Walmart and Target too as well as some other manufacturers.
Use a Desktop Computer
On Prime Day, you need a big screen to open various links and windows. If you plan to do some serious shopping you will want to keep A Frugal Chick open in one screen and Amazon on another one.
Prime Day Will NOT Be The Lowest Price On Every Item
That is absolutely true. Don’t let the hype of the sale get to you. Really compare to what you think prices should be. Everything I post I will double check to see if it’s the lowest price Amazon has ever offered and I will let you know.
The Things That Are Not True
Amazon Prime Day is a Giant Yard Sale To Help Amazon Build Hype!
Well the hype part is completely true but not so much the yard sale part. I agree with most people that the 2015 sale wasn’t something to write home about- I believe the hashtag was something about an Amazon Yard Sale. But in 2016 they stepped up and we saw some great deals on popular products. Especially THEIR products (kindles etc) which people were really excited about.
The deals won’t all just be on the homepage though. Be sure to watch A Frugal Chick all day or join the Frugal Chick Shopping Facebook Room to get all the best deals immediately.
If I don’t have a Amazon Prime Membership Before The Sale It Will Be Too Late!
FALSE. You can sign up seconds before the sales start if you would like to. AND if you have never tried the membership before you can actually try Amazon Prime for a FREE 30-Day Free Trial. Go ahead and sign up now so that you don’t have to worry about it later. And then you can grab your FREE Kindle Pre-Released Book.
I will warn you though- I don’t think Amazon Prime will go on sale. They have never done that before during this time period so if you are hanging on for a discount it’s probably not going to happen this week.
Everything Sells Out In Minutes So There Is No Reason To Try
There are absolutely certain deals that sell out quickly- lap tops and televisions for example. However over 215,000 Instant Pots were purchased in 2016- no way did they sell that in just a few minutes. Don’t be discouraged- there are deals to be had by those who don’t want to snipe.
Last year, there were two different types of deals: Lightning Deals, which run for a fixed period of time with a finite number available, and Deals of the Day, which ran for the entire 24 hours. This year, Amazon says almost 40 percent of Lightning Deals worldwide will come from small businesses and entrepreneurs.
The Best Deals Happen In The Middle of The Night
I suppose this depends on what your definition of “the middle of the night is” but this isn’t Black Friday. You don’t need to be up at midnight to grab the best stuff. I will probably be up around 5 a.m. EST to begin looking at deals. With Amazon being headquartered on the west coast they tend to not really get going until 3 a.m. EST anyway.
