The end of the school year is looming ever closer and trying to find summer activities is always a challenge. Why not get the kids involved in some of the great Free Summer Reading Programs?
Be sure to check your local libraries- they often have incredible summer reading programs as well.
Free Summer Reading Programs
Barnes & Noble – This summer reading program through Barnes & Noble gives your child the ability to earn a FREE book after reading 8 books and keeping track of them in a reading log.
Books-A-Million– Read any 4 books from the Books-A-Million Summer Reading Challenge selection in-stores and online, you’ll receive a FREE Drawstring Backpack. Books need to be from their summer adventure, don’t worry though there are a lot of participating books from all genres.
Chuck E. Cheese – Earn 10 FREE tokens every time your child reads for 2 weeks in a row. Just fill out the form and bring it in to claim your free token.
Half Price Books – Offers kids of all ages a way to earn Bookworm Bucks, good for purchasing books in any Half Price Books store, for reading (15) minutes each day throughout the summer. Program starts June 1st. You can earn double bucks by turning in your reading log in June and July.
Lifeway Christian Stores– When your kids read 6 books and memorize 6 scripture verses they will get a free book plus a new devotional or Bible from Lifeway Christian Stores. Geared for kids in 1st through 6th grade but as young as 1 can join in.
Pottery Barn Kids- Every Tuesday at 11AM, attend FREE Story Time at your local Pottery Barn Kids with readings, activities and more. Plus, become a Pottery Barn Kids Club member and you’ll get a special surprise after attending five events (possibly a $10 off purchase coupon, free book, or other prize).
Showcase Cinemas Bookworm Wednesdays – Your child can earn a FREE movie ticket from National Amusements Theaters when they read a book and complete a book report.
And don’t forget to check with your local Public Library- they will likely have a program running as well!
