I finally had time to look at this today- it’s been everywhere online. It appears from everything I see to be completely legit so here are the details.
In September of 2017, Equifax announced it experienced a data breach, which impacted the personal information of approximately 147 million people. A federal court is considering a proposed class action settlement submitted on July 22, 2019.
You can click here to see if you are eligible to join the suit (thankfully I was not). If you are then you can claim FREE Credit Monitoring or $125 in cash.
In order to check your eligibility, you will need to provide your last name and last 6 digits of your social security number. If you qualify, you can file the claim online. Requesting your payment is simple.
You will have the option to select payment by check or pre-paid card. Please note that none of these benefits will be distributed or available until the settlement is finally approved by the Court so don’t count on it in 2019!
