Basically, one day after I got engaged, I started thinking about Money Saving Wedding Ideas. A quick search on Google revealed that the average American wedding costs about $35,000.
I thought, “How pretentious are people that they have such fancy weddings?” After the first look at venues, dresses, catering, and alcohol, it was very easy to see how you could spend $35,000. And remember that is just an AVERAGE wedding. No belly dancers. No ice sculptures. No Grammy-winning recording artist playing at your reception. Just 100 of your closest family and friends eating chicken and dancing to the Cupid Shuffle.
Over the next few months, I will be writing about my wedding planning journey. Then, I will add more pictures and talk about what worked and what didn’t. I will try to be honest about what things cost, but I will not reveal any vendor information they wouldn’t want made available to the public.
Just a note: I have NO relationships with any vendors I list. I didn’t ask anyone for a special deal in exchange for a mention on the website. If I mention someone, they did an excellent job providing service, and I feel comfortable telling people about it.
