And The Puddle’s Influence Continues To Grow

Wednesday morning two very nice guys showed up at my condo.  I had moved about 90% of the stuff out of my bedroom and was sleeping on the couch.  Actually sleeping, eating, working and watching television on the couch.

They tented off a portion of my room and began running a dehumidifier to pull all the moisture out of everything.  If you look below you can see the tent they set up.  You can also see the mold damage on the bottom of my dresser.

At this point I left to run errands.  When I came home there was a hose going from my bedroom to the bathtub so liquid could drain.  I also received pictures of what the inside of my wall looks like.

They had checked my plumbing and confirmed with certainty that to the best of their knowledge the water leak did not come from  any of my pipes.  In some ways this is great.  In another it means I have to deal with my neighbor in the condo next door which is not always the best case scenario.  (I’m not going to get into him too much to protect his privacy.)

Meanwhile I am hearing the same line from the insurance company over and over “if you can’t find the source of the leak we won’t approve your claim.”  And my neighbor who won’t let anyone into his unit to look at anything is most likely the source.  We are working on a few options.

Meanwhile I woke up on the couch Thursday morning with a headache, sore throat and no voice.  Sweating.  A quick look at the thermostat determined that overnight the temperature in my unit had risen to 85 degrees.  Even Bella was looking sluggish.

It took me about 15 minutes to figure out I couldn’t stay in the unit. After evaluating my options I decided the best course of action was to go to my parents house.  They are on vacation so the house is empty except one challenge- Chloe.

This is Chloe.  Chloe is a ten year old little dog who misses her mom like MAD when she is gone.  My cat is incredibly low key and Chloe is NOT.  It’s a big adjustment.  Since I was relieving the person watching her (who would just come see her- I didn’t make someone homeless) I was going to have to take over caring for her.  And I also was going to be bringing a 15 year old cat with me.

A cat who hates change.  And has never seen a dog in real life.

So here we are one big happy family.  Cat hissing at the dog, getting into everything.  Dog growling at the cat- already ate all of the cat’s food and is expected to puke it up at any minute.  At the present time the cat is curled up on the couch behind my head and the dog is on the floor pretending to ignore her.

And I can’t even yell at them because I have no voice.  Meanwhile my house is being scrubbed and the mold is dead. (DIE MOLD DIE!)

And tomorrow will be another day of trying to move forward!
