Top Four Home Organization Tips for a House that is Always Clean

Home Organization Tips

What if I told you that you could have a house that would always be clean and organized? That by adopting four simple habits, you would pretty much never have to wake up to a chaotic house ever again?

It’s true. And it’s free!

Figuring out how to organize your home doesn’t have to require expensive organizational supplies or weird and fancy home organization tips. Here are four tips for organizing your home that–if you do them consistently–will pretty much guarantee you a clean and organized house from here on out.

Want more of this?  This is the sixth in a series of Frugal Ways To Organize Your Home [1]!  I also have started a Pinterest Board called How To Organize My Home [2].  I will be putting all of my posts on there as well as other things I find online that look interesting to me!

1. Put Things Away Immediately

This first tip is so easy, yet so profound. Putting things away immediately takes a negligible amount of time, and  yet it can make a huge difference when it comes to keeping your home organized. Put your dishes straight into the dishwasher instead of in the sink first. Put your shoes straight into the closet instead of on the floor. Put your clothes right into the hamper as soon as you take them off and the mail right into the trash as soon as you’ve read it. Try it! It works!

2. Clean As You Go

Next, go from spending hours cleaning a room to 30 seconds here and there by cleaning as you go. Do a few dishes while you are waiting to stir dinner. Keep a scrub brush in the shower and clean the walls while you clean yourself. Pick up toys and deposit them in rooms as you walk by. This home organization tip takes pretty much no extra time at all, and it’s a great way to keep your home looking clean and tidy.

3. Get Your Family on Board

You aren’t the only one making these messes; you don’t have to be the only one cleaning them up either. Kids as young as one can help pick up blocks and crayons. Five year olds can unload the dishwasher and take out the bathroom trash. Teenagers can do their own laundry and help make dinner.

4. One Item In–One Item Out

Lastly, if your home is overrun by clutter, do a massive decluttering and then institute one very important new rule: For every item that comes into your home, another one must go out. Anytime you get a new shirt, toy, book, movie or game, donate an old one. This will help keep you from buying too much, and it will help keep your home from being overrun by too much stuff as well.

This year is a great year to finally learn how to organize your home once and for all! Which of these tips for organizing your home will you start with first?
