Home Organization Week #1 Results- Check Out My Kitchen

This week finishes up the first week of my new series Frugal Ways To Organize Your Home [1]!  I’m so excited to see the comments from you all and the changes you all are making!

In case you missed it the topic this week was Four Ways to Declutter and Organize Your Kitchen for Good [2]!  You can click on the link to check out my tips!  I also have started a Pinterest Board called How To Organize My Home [3].  I will be putting all of my posts on there as well as other things I find online that look interesting to me!

In that same spirit I took to organizing my kitchen this week too.  I knew I needed to clean out my fridge and pantry so badly!

Check out the before pictures:

This is my dish drainer.  It ALWAYS has dishes in it because they don’t have a place.  It’s like a junk drawer on my counter.

My pantry was such a mess that some of my food had to stay on the counter.

My freezer was so full I am actually storing some food at a friend’s house.

My fridge was full of expired food and had some things that had spilled in the bottom a while ago and I never got around to cleaning.

So today I got a roll of paper towels from my stockpile and my trusty bottle of cleaner and went to town.  I pulled EVERYTHING out of the fridge and freezer, checked expiration dates and evaluated needs.  Tons went in the trash (my oldest expiration date was 2012) and quite a few things are going to the food bank.

My fridge is empty now- I will be filling it up over the coming weeks!

Next I went after the pantry.  There wasn’t much to throw away but my spices were in serious need of organization and tons of things had been tucked away I forgot about.  It’s not really an emptier but there is lots more room.

Look at that pasta!  I love it!

The last thing to tackle was the counters.  My rule was to assign a place for everything.  I was able to go through all my cabinets, get rid of a few things and fit everything underneath except my toaster oven and crock pot!

I am thrilled with the results of the first week of trying to get my condo more organized.  My little galley kitchen feels so much bigger than it did this morning.  And when you live in a tight space the less clutter the better it is!

How did you do?  Were you able to spend some time in the kitchen organizing this week?
