Favorite Frugal Thing-24 Cup Mini Muffin Pan

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Jana is posting this week!

It will not come as a surprise to many of you that one of my favorite frugal things is a 24 Cup Mini Muffin Pan. I love to bake but the mini muffin pan can be used for so much more!

I use my pan for brownies, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, mini quiche, egg casserole, mini pot pies, meatballs and am always experimenting to see what else can be made bite size.

It makes a perfect  bite size and is convenient when needing to take food to a picnic, party, or simply to portion control.  Rather than buying pre-made ones in the store for the small size this allows me to make them myself- often with healthier recipes.

Amazon currently has the Baker’s Basics Nonstick 24-Cup Mini Muffin Pan for just $13.23 and will ship free with a qualifying purchase of $25 or more.

I love to give these pans as a housewarming or wedding present with a cute spatula too.

Amazon prices can change at any time so be sure to order yours today.

My Favorite Frugal Things: My Electric Toothbrush

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Laura is posting this week!

There are few things in life I am convinced have saved me as much money as my electric toothbrush.  Since I don’t have dental insurance it is SUPER important to me that my toothbrush prevent me from getting cavities and needing expensive dental work done.

I happen to have the Oral-B Pulsonic Sonic Electric Toothbrush 1 Count- I am pretty sure I bought it atleast 4 years ago and it still works great.  I love it because the replacement heads are easy to find at the drug stores (so I can shop sales to get them at a discount) and it vibrates to let me know when I can be done brushing my teeth.

Be sure you get an ELECTRIC toothbrush if you are looking for maximum effectiveness- I have heard from numerous people that the ones with batteries aren’t as effective.

Now since I am a couponer I still have plenty of free regular toothbrushes (and free toothpaste) for travel and visiting friends but if I have my choice I will pick my electric toothbrush every time.  And the free dental floss of course!

Deals on these toothbrushes tend to be KILLER around the holidays and at the drug stores so keep an eye out!

My Favorite Frugal Things: Pineapple Corer Slicer

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Jana is posting this week!

My kids and I really like pineapple. But there were nights that I had to decide if the pineapple was worth the work required to core and cut!

Last Christmas I was given a pineapple corer and slicer. I had my doubts that it would do all it claimed, but since it was a gift I figured it was worth a shot.

To my delight I found it worked above and beyond what was promised!

What used to take me 10 minutes now only takes me 2!  That means I can core and slice a pineapple during a commercial break!

If you love to eat pineapple but do not like the 10 minutes it takes to get ready you should grab a Pineapple Corer Slicer!

If you already have one consider buying it as a gift for a fruit loving friend!

Who knew something so simple could become one of my favorite frugal tools?

Amazon currently has the Easy Tool Stainless Steel Fruit Pineapple Corer Slicer Peeler Cut on sale for just $4.28 (originally $12.99) and they will ship for free with a qualifying order of $25 or more.  Of course this is Amazon so the price can change quickly!

My Favorite Frugal Things: My Kindle Fire

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Laura is posting this week!

I can not wax poetical enough to you about my Kindle Fire .  In the 18 or so months I have owned it I am certain I have used it every single day and I love it more than almost anything else I own (except Bella and my Ariat cowboy boots of course).

This series is supposed to be my favorite frugal things- I know it may seem odd to have an item this expensive on the list but trust me when I say this has saved me more than it cost.

Let’s take a quick look at my savings so far:

At current count I have 168 books on my Kindle- only one of which I paid any money for.  With a median price of about $5 a book that’s $840 worth of books (and some are worth much more than $5!)!

Additionally whenever I travel I always take a few books with me to read on the plane/in the car etc.  They take up a ton of room in my bag and I always seem to run out of book before I run out of travel.  This means that in some airport I drop $10 on a paperback from an author I probably don’t know that I never read again.  When I travel with my Kindle I have tons of books at my finger tips that take up a tenth of the space.  I estimate my Kindle has saved me about $50 in books (not to mention relieving the pressure of dragging all those books around!).

Also since I don’t like to spend the money to buy books very often I tend to check them out at the library.  As a result I regularly forget to take them back until they are a few days late.  So let’s say I have probably saved $15 in late fees in the last year and a half as well.

Those three simple examples have me up to over $900 that I have potentially saved by spending $119 on a Kindle Fire  (I bought mine refurbished so it was a bit cheaper).

If you have considered getting one I can not encourage you enough to check it out- it’s a great investment!

Favorite Frugal Things: “I See Me” Books!

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Christine is posting this week!

Are you looking for a unique child’s gift for an upcoming party or family gathering, something that has an extra special touch? Perhaps you are looking to give your own child something meaningful that they will keep for years to come…

I See Me creates personalized, high-quality children’s books. They incorporate your child’s name into the story, and can even include names of family members in some of the books, depending on the storyline.

RoyalBday

While all of their books are unique and special, (they even have other gifts such as coloring books and placemats) the Royal Adventure birthday book series and the “My Very Happy Birthday” series are my favorite! Books tend to run ~$30 and some of their other personalized items are less than $10, so it depends on your budget what works best for you!

Any child will love opening this gift and seeing their name on the front cover. This is why “I See Me” books make the list of Favorite Frugal Things. To see all of their items for sale, visit their webpage here. But that’s not all…

Right now, they are offering Frugal Chick fans a special offer!

My Favorite Frugal Things – Munchkin Snack Catchers

Welcome to a new A Frugal Chick Series “My Favorite Frugal Things”!  Jana, Christine and I will each tell you things that we consider frugal AND have saved us a ton of money!  Jana starts this week!

I was clueless with my first child and just thought that kids made messes. A lot of them! I thought every mom had a vacuum bag full of cheerios and other snacks that spill all over the floor.

One day I was at church and saw a child with what I later learned to be a Munchkin Snack Catcher. I asked the Mom what it was and where to get one. I made a special trip to the store after church and bought a pack of Munchkin Snack Catchers.  After only a couple of uses I fell in love with them. They are great for around the house, but are even nicer for the car.

Amazon currently has the Munchkin Two Snack Catchers for just $5.91 (originally $7.99 but of course the price can change).  I now give these snack catchers for baby shower gifts and/or first birthday party presents. It is practical and something for both child and mom!
