Locals: 50% Off Paint N Sip in Virginia Beach

For those of you who follow me on facebook a few weeks ago I posted pictures of a painting I was doing.

Please note I am NOT an artist who works with paint- I am much better with music! So when I tell you the class is designed for anyone to be able to do no matter how unskilled they are please be sure that includes me. I was nervous that I would end up screwing the whole thing up.

However I feel like my painting turned out pretty amazing.

I went with four other girlfriends and we each painted the same painting, following the same instructor. And the picture above shows our 5 paintings- which look similar and different at the same time.

Today you can get the chance to do your own painting for $15- half off the normal price. With today’s three great deal offers from Paint ‘n Sip in Virginia Beach, you can discover the inner Monet in you (or Andy Warhol, or Vincent Van Gogh, or… well, you get the picture)! You can choose from a two-hour painting session for $15 (regularly $30), a three-hour painting session for $20 (regularly $40), or delight your child on their next birthday with a 12-child painting party for only $89 (regularly $180)!

Oh and the whole “Sip” part means bring what you like. You can fill in the blanks.

When you go tell her you saw the deal on A Frugal Chick!

This deal expires 6/7.

Anna Cruz consignments (one of the newer companies) is having their spring and summer consignment sale March 17th through 19th. For you all who work it’s nice that it doesn’t start until 5 p.m. on the 17th so you may get first pick of the bunch!

Virginia Beach- LOVE The Moment

As a kid I always thought it was funny people came to my hometown for vacation. Sure we had a beach, an amusement park, a water park, an aquarium, concerts, surfing contests and fireworks but didn’t everyone have that?

As an adult I realize what an exciting area I live in and at the heart of it is Virginia Beach. So much so that many of my friends have had a “Staycation” this year. Instead of leaving town they have chosen to stay here and take advantage of the great things our area has to offer. And as locals we know where all the best adventures are.

Obviously it’s not a stretch to realize the Virginia Beach Oceanfront has a lot to offer. Besides the actual beach itself a few of my favorite activities have been kayaking with the dolphins (they get so close!), para- sailing and a rare party where I got to ride in our local pirate ship hunting for treasure. I am scheduled to check out paddle boarding this summer and can’t wait to give it a shot. There is also a haunted house, 3-D mini golf and street performers during the warm months!

Additionally the Oceanfront is an area for runners. It seems like 9 months of the year there is a race almost every weekend. Some of them are small and some are marathons with thousands of attendees. The energy is always amazing and it’s great to see a city that promotes healthiness as part of it’s climate.

If you want off the boardwalk it doesn’t take too long to get to Ocean Breeze Waterpark. Sometimes you want the fun of slides (they have 10) and wave pools without the salt and sand. They also have a huge area for the little kids where moms can relax and keep an eye out safely. Many locals get season’s passes and go numerous times when the weather is nice. They also have putt-putt golf, a motor speedway and other attractions nearby. When I was a kid we used to throw lunch in a cooler and head to the park. During lunch we could come out, grab our food and eat at one of the nearby picnic tables. Then back into the water for more fun!

When you are ready to get out of the sun check out the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. Located right next door to Ocean Breeze Waterpark they have a giant IMAX theater (Batman in IMAX- AWESOME), boat tours (whale and dolphin watching) and of course aquariums! There is a sting ray tank where you can reach in and touch they as they glide by in the water. Seals, turtles and a touch tank also make for some great pictures and stories.

If you are looking for a more adult vacation you can’t beat Virginia Beach for concerts and festivals- everything from The Wine Festival to The Funny Bones Comedy Club. The food is also incredible- from seafood at Waterman’s to the crab cakes at Surf Rider to the cheesecake at The Jewish Mother there is something for everyone.  The oceanfront is a beautiful venue for concerts and some of the best performers in the country come to sing to the music of the waves.

If you have been mulling over your family vacation for the summer consider coming to Virginia Beach.  If you are local consider staying home this year and really seeing all our area has to offer.  Maybe you can capture a Moment to Love!

Locals: The Virginian Pilot Subscription Sale

I am so glad to see this Living Social deal has popped up again!

If you live in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth, or Chesapeake the paper you can have delivered to your house- chock full of coupons- is The Virginian Pilot.

Find all the news that’s fit to print when you pay $20 for a six-month Wednesday and Sunday home subscription (regularly $54).  If you have taken my coupon class you know that $20 for 6 months is the price that I recommend paying for our local papers.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning daily features sections packed with sharp images; local flair; and most importantly, gripping, pertinent information.  (Bonus: sometimes the local paper inserts carry columns from yours truly.)

This deal is only valid if you have not had The Virginian Pilot delivered to your house in the last 100 days so if you have never started or let your last subscription lapse because you weren’t getting the deal you wanted now is the time to start again!

I scrolled to the bottom of the page of deals and it was the very last one!
