The Trick To Hiding Holiday Gifts- Layaway

This is a sponsored post, I am a Kmart Layaway blogger, though all opinions are my own.

When we were kids my sister and I made an art of finding our holiday gifts.  There was no furniture unsearched, no attic left unexplored and no trunk left unopened.  After a few years my parents began threatening to take everything back- moving it from hiding place to hiding place in an effort to surprise us on Christmas morning.

Then they discovered a magical solution that the stores provided- free layaway.  The stores would hold our gifts  on-site- somewhere that we could not search.  Not only that but it allowed them to shop early thus guaranteeing they would have stock of the items we really wanted.  It was the best of both worlds for two busy working professionals.

Kmart has begun providing you with this same luxury- by offering their holiday layaway program with Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway.   There is one Layaway Give Away per store from now until 11/17/12.  Put your gifts on LayAway and once a week you have the chance your balance will be paid off!
The hot toy lists for this year are already out and some of these items are going to be hard to find soon.  I keep hearing the name “Doc McStuffins” and think those items are going to be cleared off the shelves soon- as well as those LeapPad 2 products and the those Furby 2012!   You can grab them now so you don’t have to wait in lines later.

And if you shop now KMart will waive the normal $5 or $10 layaway fee.  One of the things that makes KMart stand out from other retailers this year is they are including a large selection of classic gifts in their selection as well- along with your Furby you can grab Twister, Holiday Dance Barbie and lots of Legos!  Kmart has also released a list of Fab 15 toys they will give you to make sure you grab the best items while doing your shopping!  Check out the chartKmart Free Layaway Grid 09_12.jpg to see how their Layaway program stacks up compared to other retailers!
So start your shopping now and relieve your stress later!

Why Can’t You See Me On Facebook Anymore?

For the last two weeks or so, my head has wanted to explode every time I open A Frugal Chick’s Facebook page.  And no, it isn’t because I still hate timeline.  It’s so much more than that.

You see I have about 13,500 fans on Facebook.  And I love all of them.  They are my favorite 13,500 people in the whole world (with the exception of maybe my Dad who does not have a Facebook page.  And my nephew and niece who are not old enough for Facebook).

When I add a status on Facebook I REALLY want all 13,500 of them to see it.

The problem is that once I submit the status I am at the mercy of Facebook.  Their very complicated algorithm determines who sees what could be the deal of a lifetime.  And about two weeks ago it dropped to less than 10% of my “likes” seeing my statuses.  Which, in turn, means less people visit my site.

So far we (meaning myself and all the other bloggers I know) have not found a way to guarantee you see our status updates.  But we do have some guesses.

If you miss me on Facebook here are some things we THINK might help:

1.  Go onto Facebook and like the statuses or leave a comment.  The more feedback you leave on the page the more likely the algorithm is to think I am important to you!

2.  Share status updates on your Facebook page.  This will let Facebook know I am important to you!

3.  Don’t wait to see my updates on Facebook!  Add me to your favorite websites you check every day.  Make me your home page.  Or sign up for A Frugal Chick’s daily e-mail.

Some of you may have stopped by tonight and think “I don’t use coupons, why should I spend time on this site?”

Two words for you: HOLIDAY SHOPPING.  It’s coming.

I hope this helps those of you who have missed me on Facebook!
