Every summer we pile the kids in the car and prepare for one of my favorite days (also for us the longest day of summer). Our goal is to hit BOTH Water Country USA and Busch Gardens Williamsburg in one day. And this year we had a big milestone- the middle child has now reached 42 inches tall. And wants to try EVERYTHING.
A Slide For The Whole Family
The night before our trip I went online to check out the slides. I thought I had seen before that some of the slides were big enough to hold all of us now that T is two-and-a-half and more adventurous. It turns out we could all go on Big Daddy Falls so as soon as we got to the park we went straight to that slide. T promptly had a melt down so he stayed with grandma while we took a friend’s son on the slide. It was nice to have a slide where three kids and two adults could all ride together.
Where 42″ Makes a Big Difference
After Big Daddy Falls we went over to Cow-A-Bunga to meet grandma and T. In the back of Cow-A-Bunga is a small slide with a double float. Every year I would walk up and down those stairs over and over with one of the kids so they could ride it a million times. It’s the perfect size for them but only lasts about 30 seconds.
This year I could hear music- C and P could go together without an adult! Up and down those steps over and over again- they must have done the slide a dozen times. We just got to sit at the bottom and take pictures!
Happiness at the end!
Dignity and grace getting out of the raft!
My sister FINALLY got T on a slide!
The Kritter Korral
After that we went next door to the Kritter Korral and climbed all over everything!
P climbing up to the tall slide!
C climbing up to the tall slide!
Lots of giggles!
T has the best “leave me alone” face I have ever seen. The fact that this little girl came over to sit with him cracked me up.
Lunch in the Car
One of the great things about Water Country USA is that the parking lot isn’t enormous. Since we were going to be eating dinner in Busch Gardens Williamsburg we decided to bring lunch to the water park. So we trekked out to the van, sat in the air conditioning and enjoyed our lunches!
H20 UFO
We discovered a new (to us) section called H20 UFO! It’s down by Big Daddy Falls and is all shallow water. Plus it has another one of those double float slides so the oldest two immediately ran off to go do that. We stayed in the shallow water, watched them finish and played with T.
I will say this area has one big flaw. In the picture below you can see the big, fun thing to play on? Yeah since you can’t see THROUGH it we had to keep following the kids around to keep an eye on them.

My nephew the rebel.
We ran around a bit more but I wanted to put the camera up and just have fun (this can be difficult for bloggers to do). Be sure you don’t miss out on the fun!
