Have you ever thought I seem a little dramatic? There is a reason.
About once a year I set aside some time to participate in community theater. I love music and acting (I’m trying to love dancing) so it’s a natural fit. I also attend tons of shows both to see my friends and some really good theater. Community theater is an important part of my community and a great frugal night out! Check out my post on How To Save on Community Theatre Tickets!
Everyone who does these shows comes from a different background and brings different things to the table. I have made some AMAZING friends by doing shows.
And my current cast is no exception.
Last night we opened our new production of “The Wedding Singer” in Norfolk, VA. Yes that movie with Adam Sandler became a musical. There is tons of amazing music, bad 80’s hair and clothes and some pretty incredible dancing.
I was the music director for this show- I taught the cast all the songs and worked with them on vocals. It has been a complete labor of love that has kept me from finding deals! Now that the show is open I can’t work on music anymore so I can get back to my real life while they get to have fun actually DOING the show.
I wanted to let you guys know because this show is so incredible and if you are local and looking for a frugal night out I can not recommend enough checking it out! It would be a great date night or a fun night out with the girls! As far as content goes the show would be rated PG-13 if it was a film- I always like to let people know up front.
How To Get Frugal Tickets:
The show runs through July 16th with shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Full price tickets are only $18 with discounts available for students, senior and military (drops the price to $15).
And if you go on Thursday nights and are a student/teacher/librarian you receive your ticket for $13! That’s only a little bit more than the cost of a movie!
I will be there most shows so if you happen to see me be sure to say hello!
