Every once in a while I receive products from companies to try out and let you know what I think. I have to be honest most of the time they are things I don’t really care about.
However when I was contacted about getting to test out the new Striiv pedometer I waited by the front door for it to arrive (okay not really but I would have). I have been using it for just over two weeks now and let me tell you how much I love it.
The Striiv is basically a pedometer video game. It keeps track of how many steps you take every day, how many stairs you climb and how many calories you burn. It has actually been a huge tool for me in beginning to finally drop some of my extra weight (10 lbs so far!)
I keep it attached to my waist all day and it has hung on great through spin classes, running on the treadmill and walks when it is nice outside. For the steps that you take you earn points and on the Striiv there is a really cute game building your own land. The points earn you different objects in the game so you can watch trees grow and build different structures. This isn’t a complicated game but if I am sitting in line waiting for something I will use my points to plant a few trees!
And if you want to plant trees in real life you can hook the Striiv up to your computer. By logging your steps online companies donate to various causes- you can choose from clean water, fighting polio and the rainforest. I have to be honest I haven’t done any of that yet so I am not sure with the details of how that works. I am just enjoying the pedometer part right now.
Also if I am feeling unmotivated I can have it give me a challenge like “do 50 steps in 1 minute” or “finish up to 250 stairs today.”
For a hard core marathon runner I don’t think this is necessarily the best tool. But if you are a normal person trying to get in your 10,000 steps a day and be more active this is a fantastic tool.
So check out the Striiv and see if you think it would be a good fit for you or someone in your life. I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed it!
I was sent the Striiv to review but my opinions are 100% my own. I did not receive any payment for this post.
Congrats on the weight loss! That’s awesome!! 🙂
