It felt like it took forever but Fitbit finally released a kids tracker called the Ace Tracker. People had very excited about it for a while but I was kind of underwhelmed when it came out. Now they have moved onto the Fitbit Ace 2 Activity Tracker and it still has some of the same hang ups.
Our family has been using the Garmin Vivofit, Jr products for over three years now. We have had nothing but great experiences with them.
There are two BIG strengths for the Garmin Vivofit, Jr products I wanted to point out. One- the Garmin Vivofit, Jr products do not come off unless you take them off for some reason. They are fully water proof, in our experience shock proof and the battery charge lasts a year (almost to the day in our experience).
The new Ace Tracker is NOT fully waterproof. If the kids swim or do long term water activities (as ours do) they would have to be taken off. They also have to be taken off to be charged every five days or so. In my family that generally means “this will get lost.” And within three months after Christmas the watches were dead and lying in a corner somewhere.
Both come in a multitude of colors and have games and things on them you can utilize to encourage movement. But from a household where we have owned both products I CANNOT recommend the Garmin Vivofit, Jr products enough over the kids fitbit product.
