Up until now keeping your viewing separate from your kid’s (or maybe your spouse’s viewing) on Amazon Prime was difficult. No one wants their kids to log in and catch a glimpse of something they don’t need to see. Now you can Create Amazon Prime Video Profiles for everyone in your family – the same way you have been able to on Netflix, Hulu and most other platforms.
This was added the summer of 2020 and families are thrilled with the result.
Prime Video now allows you to create and manage multiple profiles within your account- you can have up to six user profiles. There is one default profile and then up to five additional profiles (either adult or kids). This is on a single Amazon account. Each profile will have separate recommendations, season progress and watchlists based on individual profile activity.
How To Create Amazon Prime Video Profiles
The kid’s account will restrict what type of content is shown. You’ll have to enter a name, and also select if this is a kid’s account. Content is limited on kid’s accounts to anything appropriate for ages 12 and under, and you can’t purchase anything directly from a kid’s account. To block kids from purchasing on non-kids profiles, you can enable ‘Purchase Restrictions’ under Prime Video ‘Settings’ to prevent purchasing without a Prime Video PIN. Search results and search suggestions will also be filtered.

People can stream up to three videos at once while using the same Amazon account, with no more than two devices streaming the same video at the same time.
It is important to note that if you use Amazon Household (and share your profile with another household) you can turn off the sharing function on the “manage your profiles” page. HOWEVER once you do that you cannot undo it so be sure.
