I honestly think the easiest way to save money is to price match. When you find the item you want you just pull out your cell phone and do a quick search to see if it’s cheaper somewhere else. Though it’s not that simple at every store most stores don’t have a very complicated process. You can even price match online prices some places if you are willing to make a phone call (I KNOW- talking to someone isn’t something I like to do either). By shopping some of these big stores that price match you can save a ton of money!
Big Stores That Price Match
Amazon: No longer price matches but I wanted to mention something else they do that is helpful in this same area. They do a pre-purchase price guarantee. If you pre-order an item (like a new movie coming out in a few weeks) and you pre-order it, they will watch the price. Once the item is shipping they will charge you the lowest price it ever was between when you purchased and when it shipped. So let’s say you grab an upcoming LEGO movie for $19.99. Two weeks later the price drops to $14.99 (likely because Target or somewhere else has it on sale). The next day the price jumps back up to $19.99 and stays there until it ships. On the day it ships they would charge you $14.99!
Bed Bath and Beyond: will honor price matches with any direct competitor, even Amazon.com, as long as the items are the same manufacturer and model number. It must be in stock at the competitor. You cannot use a 20% off coupon AND a price match.
Bed Bath & Beyond will not price match membership stores, such as Costco, third-party sellers or websites for stores it does not consider direct competitors. For in-store price matching, just ask a sales associate. You can also request a price match for a purchase on bedbathandbeyond.com by calling 1-800-Go-Beyond or by emailing [email protected] up to 14 days after purchase.
Best Buy: Make sure the product you would like to price match is identical to our competitor’s product (it must be a matching brand with identical model number and color). BestBuy.com orders are available for price matching by phone only.
Visit any Best Buy store and present the qualifying competitor’s ad or website, with the lower price that is still in effect, to any of our Blue Shirts. Best Buy will then review and verify the price match request on a Best Buy device. I have personally done this a few times.
The Home Depot: If you find a current lower price on an identical, in-stock item from any retailer, we will match the price and
beat it by 10%. Just bring the ad, printout or photo with you to the register for validation. (This may involve the associate contacting the competitor).
How price matching works for online purchases:
Online purchases are not eligible for the 10% Low Price Guarantee, but are eligible for price matching. Price matching online is for same-item, in-cart pricing and items must be available to ship to your location.
If you’re purchasing an item online, contact an associate via phone at 1-800-HOME-DEPOT (466-3337). The associate will then look up the competing price for validation and will handle your price match during online checkout.
Lowe’s: If you find a lower everyday price on an identical item at a local retail competitor, just bring us the competitor’s current ad, and we’ll match it. They will price match online pricing from reputable sellers.It must be in stock.
Office Max: Office Depot® and OfficeMax® stores in the 50 United State and Puerto Rico, and Officedepot.com will gladly match the price on a new identical item sold in store and online at Staples, Target, Walmart and Best Buy and copy and custom printing jobs from FedEx Office and The UPS Store (each a “Competitor”).
Target: We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target then find the identical item for less at Target.com, select online competitors, or in Target’s or competitor’s local print ad. Price matches may be requested at time of purchase or Price adjustments within 14 days after purchase. The full list of online competitors is available online or at Guest Services.
