Busch Gardens Williamsburg has rolled out their new Summer Nights program for 2018- Spark! Normally I don’t write up their summer program but there was some important stuff I wanted to be sure you all knew to save you some time (and money).
$.40 Coors Light
If a 7 oz beer sounds refreshing and you like Coors Light head into the Festhaus and grab a drink!
Light Balance- DO NOT MISS THIS! PLEASE!
We waited in line over an hour for this twelve minute show and when it was done agreed we would wait another hour. It was INCREDIBLE. A neon dance troupe, popularized by its appearance on NBC-TV’s “America’s Got Talent,” is on tap to perform four shows nightly in the park’s Abbey Stone Theatre. This team of talented, young dancers, designers and programmers tell their story through brilliant choreography; July 27 – Aug 12 on Fri., Sat. and Sun.
Projection Mapping
This was really fun to watch. About 8:30 when it finally got dark enough the park lights up projections in the France Village and the Wilkommenhaus. It has music to go along with it and we had a little dance party with the kids. It lasted maybe five minutes and was fun.
Cool Off Zones
There is a soakin’ Splash Party, giant mister fans and the new Spritzer Squad roaming throughout the park, refreshing willing guests. The GIANT mister fans are really fun- lots of pics have been showing up in my newsfeed of my friends kids playing in them.
Spark- All New Show at Royal Palace Theatre- YOU CAN SKIP THIS
An all-new, one-of-kind pyrotechnic laser light show. Features a cast of 10 party-starters, a bubble dance floor for guests and a custom soundtrack packed with popular dance music by award-winning artists. Electric dance mixes will come to life with flame effects, concert lighting and an awesome laser pyrotechnic show; July 6 – Aug. 12
Unless you are a big fan of a rave or lasers you can probably skip this. I hate to ever say a show isn’t great but this one really underwhelmed me. My second trip to the park we skipped it and got a better seat for the fireworks.
This show also does something that Busch Gardens does often that frustrates me- they play JUST enough of a song in this show that you want to hear the song and then change it (presumably to save on copyright). So it’s JUST enough Michael Jackson that you start to get into it and then it changes to some generic beat. They have done this in shows in the Globe Theater as well. Drives me bananas.
Fireworks
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until November 2nd they are doing fireworks right before the close of the park. They are as good as always so be sure to catch them- especially if you can see them on the bridge between Italy and Germany.
And Some New Food (none of which I tried but it looks good!)
