Don’t know about Sea World? Check out all the SeaWorld Information you could need!
Of all the things I experienced on vacation the Penguin Encounter at SeaWorld Orlando was hands down my favorite. I LOVE penguins. In spite of the smell I think they are just so much fun. They are very vocal and swim to look like they are almost flying. And there is no glass between you and the penguins so you really are immersed in the experience.
The ride that goes with it- Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin– brings SeaWorld visitors to the South Pole for a unique ride adventure through the lives of a colony of penguins.
You begin your adventure with a two-minute pre-show, introducing you to a Gentoo penguin couple, standing guard over their egg as a storm approaches. It’s the last egg in the colony to hatch this year. Just before the storm hits we meet the focus of the ride, young Puck the Penguin.
They have these cars you sit in that glide across the floor like it’s a large piece of ice. They have the “Wild Expedition” and the “Mild Expedition.” We chose the “Mild Expedition” because the line was shorter. Basically the difference is how much the ride shakes while you are in it. I don’t feel like we missed out on anything.
The ride is very short and while it was fun the line was MASSIVE outside. I’m not sure it was worth the long wait you would often see during the most popular times of year.
Especially because you can take the non-rider line and still see all the amazing animals in the video!
There is also a Behind The Scenes Penguin Tour where you can explore the habitat of Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin®, and see five species of penguins! See penguins waddle around in icy environments or gliding gracefully under water in this expansive habitat. I wish we had done it- it looked amazing!
