Me heading underwater at Discovery Cove Orlando.

The Discovery Cove Resort is in Orlando, FL just minutes from SeaWorld.  You and your family will experience exciting animal encounters in a breathtaking tropical atmosphere. Swim with bottlenose dolphins, feed tropical birds, snorkel through a saltwater reef and play inches from a family of otters – all in one day.

About The Discovery Cove Resort

My favorite part of Discovery Cove was the Grand Reef.  When you arrive they give you a snorkel and mask you can use for the day.   The Reef’s water is cooler than the others in the park because they keep it at a temperature comfortable for the fish so it is a bit of a shock when you first step your feet in it.

When we arrived at the park the Reef wasn’t open yet (they wait until all the lifeguards get there) and I got so excited just seeing this guy swimming around.  I was going to get to swim with him!  But when I got in the water I was AMAZED at all the things I saw- this little guy was just the beginning.

They have these waterproof sheets you can attach to your wrist and take in the water to find things!

The Reef has two sections (you can see them in the video below).  Once is very shallow- you can walk with ease.  Then the other section is very deep which is where you see all the coral and some of the most bright and colorful fish.

This guy was HUGE and hanging out in the shallow water.  I put the picture here so you could see his size in relation to the humans- he was VERY cool.

The coral was absolutely beautiful.  The pictures just cannot do it justice.

The fish were just stunning and swam right by you- almost like they ignored you!
