I was so excited to head to Busch Gardens Williamsburg this morning to get to ride their newest coaster- InvadR- which opens to the general public today!
If you want to visit the park yourself check out the Busch Gardens Williamsburg Coupons– you may as well save some money!
InvadR is the park’s first wooden coaster and while it’s a smooth ride it’s not quite as smooth as Tempesto or Verbolten. This is not the jerky wooden coaster of my youth though. I didn’t feel it was jerking me around or that I was going to get whiplash.

It has some huge pluses for me. I am NOT a big coaster person- I had the chance to do a video like this for Tempesto when it opened and I didn’t because I knew I wouldn’t enjoy it. But InvadR’s biggest drop is only 74 feet and the top speed is 48 mph so it’s closer to what I like. Think of it as more Verbolten then Apollo’s Chariot.

My friend Joel went on the ride with me and I do have to say- the 48 mph does NOT feel slow. While the ride doesn’t go upside down or have any dramatic drops the twists and turns on the track make it plenty exciting. Once it gets going it never really slows down.

And, as you can tell from my video, it’s REALLY fun. I left my make up at home and the camera is at the worst possible angle so please watch with love.
