Things To Do Near Williamsburg, VA: Sno To Go (Trust Me- You Want This)

[1]

This is the first of a series of posts on the amazing town of Williamsburg, VA [2]. If you are looking for a vacation or a good staycation it has many hidden gems and awesome high profile places to shop, eat and experience!

Of all the places to go in Williamsburg Sno To Go is hands down my favorite.  I’m not sure that I can put into writing how truly incredible it is and how I have never tasted anything like it before.

I had lived about an hour away from Sno To Go my whole life and had never heard about the place.  Then a friend who attended William and Mary College in Williamsburg clued me in on this college hot spot.  It’s not located on Campus- it’s at 2229 Richmond Road across from the Yankee Candle store- in a very unassuming building.

Their hours change with the seasons- check their Facebook Page [4] to see the current hours or give them a call at (757) 229-0017 .

Sno To Go serves New Orleans/Hawaiian style snoballs (which are not to be confused with Sno Cones).  It’s shaved ice with an AMAZING sugar flavored syrup on it.  Additionally you can get the Snoballs “stuffed” which means that inside that goodness there is the most amazing soft serve ice cream you have ever tasted (see top picture).

They have TONS of flavors- some of them are just plain fruit flavors or you can mix it up.  My favorites are “Frog in a Blender” (lemon-lime and watermelon) and “Swizzleberry” (blackberry, blueberry, strawberry and raspberry).  “Tiger’s Blood” also seems to be a favorite (berries and coconut).

Beware this is a hot spot for college students- if you go on a Friday night you could be looking at a 30 minute wait with a line wrapped around the building.

Another word to the wise: it’s called Sno-to-Go for a reason, it’s not a fancy ice cream shoppe.  You can eat there if you don’t mind roadside picnic tables, but most people grab and go. Parking is at a premium too. Service is quick and very friendly, even on the busiest of days.  It’s very family & kid friendly.

If you are heading up to Williamsburg do NOT miss out- it’s not an every day treat but for special occasions you won’t be able to beat it!
