Tax Free Shopping For School

Tax Free Shopping For School

Are you holding off on buying school supplies until you have Tax Free Shopping For School?

While I absolutely suggest buying the standard school supplies (pencils, erasers etc) over the course of the summer, items like clothing and more expensive supplies may give you better deals during Tax Free Shopping For School.

Fortunately many states offer Tax Free Weekends when you can get clothes and school supplies tax free.  The stores know when these holidays are and often will have great sales to go with the additional tax free discount.

Here is Virginia there are some dollar limits: During this three-day period, purchases of certain school supplies, clothing and footwear will be exempt from the Virginia sales tax. Each eligible school supply item must be priced at $20 or less, and each eligible article of clothing and footwear must be priced at $100 or less.

Before you start shopping make sure you print out the Back To School Supplies List to find the sale and stock up prices for all your Back To School Shopping.  Print this out and keep with you while you are shopping so that you can know if the price is right to purchase an item.
