Recipe for Salisbury Steak
I used to love eating Salisbury Steak from the box in the frozen section, but as I have gotten older my tastes have changed and I would much rather have homemade over prepackaged any day. But homemade oftentimes means a long list of ingredients and a lot of work. But this Homemade Salisbury Steak truly is simple and quick to pull together- just 5 ingredients, less than 30 minutes start to finish, and dinner is ready to set on the table. Serve with mashed potatoes or butter noodles.
Ingredients:
1-1 1/2 lbs. of lean ground beef
1 egg
1 medium onion
1 10 1/2 oz. can of beef gravy
Pepper and garlic salt to taste
Directions:
Slice onion in half and then cut into strips.
Saute onion in butter or oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat until translucent.
In a medium bowl combine ground beef, garlic salt, pepper, and egg with your hands working everything through evenly.
Patty meat mixture to 1/2″ to 3/4″ thickness in an oval shape.
Place patties into pan, top with onions and gravy, cover.
Simmer for 15-18 minutes, until meat is cooked through.
