If you live on the East Coast, you might want to fill up your tanks just in case!
A pipeline that delivers gas to an estimated 50 million people on the East Coast has leaked and been shut down for several days. The pipeline’s operator has said full service will not be restored until at least next week. The closure has set off an industry-wide scramble as suppliers seek alternative ways to transport gasoline to the East Coast.
Full service will not be restored until next week, so there is the potential for gas to spike 5¢-15¢ in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia and $.10- $.20 in South Carolina over the next week.
There is also the potential some stations might run out, so go ahead and grab some while you can.
