Kitchen Cabinet Spice Rack Tutorial

Easy DIY Spice Rack

Like most people, we used to keep all of our kitchen spices in our kitchen cabinet. But even though I tried to keep our most frequently used spices near the front, I always had a hard time finding what I needed. Until one day, when I realized I could free up more space in my small kitchen, make my spices more easily accessible, and generally make cooking much easier–by putting up a kitchen cabinet spice rack on the END of my cabinet.

It’s genius, really.

Now, these spice racks for cabinets may not be fancy and elaborate, but let me tell you what they are: They are cheap (I think I paid maybe $3), super easy and quick to install (I asked my husband to do it–he’s the best!), they are easy to clean, they are versatile (you can use them for anything–not just spices), and I think they’re cute. Hopefully you will too!

Kitchen Cabinet Spice Rack Instructions:

1. Start by purchasing these small baskets. Walmart sells them in sets of three for just a couple bucks.

2. Use a ruler, a pencil and a level (or just eyeball it) to mark off where you want your baskets to go. Put a little X where the nails (or screws) will go. Make sure the baskets are far enough apart to fit your spices comfortably.

3. Set baskets aside.

4. Hammer the nails (or screw the screws) into the X’s.

5. Hang the mini storage trays so the nails (or screws) go through the slats in the sides of the baskets.

6. Fill mini storage trays with spices–or whatever else you’d like to store! (My husband likes to use them for coffee)

Optional: For kitchen cabinet spice racks that are really pretty–try weaving a ribbon through the front and tying it in a bow! Cute!

These kitchen cabinet spice racks might not be fancy, but I LOVE them. They are really handy, and you just can’t beat how simple they are to install, or how cheap!

Don’t have your cabinet ends free? You could use this same tutorial to create a cabinet door spice rack or an over the door spice rack instead! Whatever works for you!
