GIVEAWAY: A Global Walk Photography

by Laura on July 25, 2010

I am always impressed with the way an artist sees the world. What looks like a giant pile of junk to me can look like a thing of beauty with the right perspective.

My creative skills are pretty pathetic in the area of physical art. I can’t draw, paint or even arrange my furniture in patterns that my guests find acceptable. So when I see true talent in these areas, I am always in awe.

In my hometown I am lucky enough to know an amazing photographer who is a phenomenal artist. Ashley Fieldin takes beautiful, thought-provoking pictures under the name of her company A Global Walk Photography. I have two in my office and one in my living room and enjoy looking at them throughout the day.

If you are local and would like to meet the artist and see her work in person, Ashely has a show coming up August 6th from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at 2900 Ballahack Road in Chesapeake. There will be refreshments and the music of Over the Ocean, Musicplayer and Imagination Station. All of the proceeds from the ticket ($5 at the door), art and refreshment sales will go toward Ashley’s upcoming trip to Germany. She will be working with children overseas, as well as trying to capture images of their daily lives, in an effort to educate us on their reality.

And to get you in the right frame of mind, Ashley has agreed to let me give away 2 of her photographs! These 8 X 10 pictures can be mailed to anyone in the U.S., so if you are not local, please feel free to enter!

You have four ways you can enter, and you can pick as many entries (up to four) as you would like. Make sure you leave a separate comment for each entry. If you are reading this post from an email, you must click over to www.afrugalchick.com to leave your comments.

Here are the ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment on this post and let me know which picture is your favorite and why. It doesn’t have to be anything deeply personal-sometimes a picture is my favorite just because it’s pretty!

2. Subscribe to this blog, and leave me a comment letting me know you’ve done so. Click here to subscribe by email. If you’re already a subscriber, leave a comment letting me know.

3. “Like” A Frugal Chick on Facebook, then leave a comment letting me know you’ve “liked” it. If you already “like” me, leaving a comment letting me know.

4. Follow me on Twitter, then leave me a comment letting me know you are following me! If you already follow me, leave me a comment letting me know that as well!

Remember, please leave a separate comment for each entry, and enter only in the ways listed above. I reserve the right to delete comments not adhering to the above entry guidelines.

You can enter anytime now through Sunday, August 1st at 8PM EDT. Two winners will be selected at random. I will contact the winners by email shortly after the giveaway ends, and the winners will have 48 hours to respond. If they do not respond within that time frame, a new winner will be selected.

Thanks so much and I wish everyone good luck!

It was hard to narrow it down to just one. I love the fishing pier photo just because it is beautiful however, I really love the picture of the walkway in between the trees in what looks like a cemetary. They are so beautiful but I guess my favorite is the fishing pier.

Love your site!! Also the photos she took are amazing! I really like the one of the two keys dangling down over the book in the stills category. It seems really romantic to me and I like to read :~)

I love your site. I have been meaning to visit…just got busy & forgt about it.I visited the Global Walk…. WoW, wha ta talented girl! My favorite pics were both in NATURE:1) The conch with light glowing thru the end- It was resting amidst gentle shore break. It was very peaceful. It is full of completion and simple beauty. I am sure that conch performed its earthly task, but then left this world…and still graces us with unmatched beauty….silently…2) I loved the big red apple!! It sits cheerfully in the old timey cup- close up- no handle view… This pic is full of warmth, memories, and generations. I feel like I am at the breakfast table with my mom or grandma….waiting to have a chat…about the way things were, or share a personal memory.
+1

I do not know what I am doing wrong but I am unable to see the pictures in the gallery on the A Global Walk Photography website. I would like to see them. I am like you, not that artistic but love looking at pictures that people take. I watch you every Sunday morning to see what deals are available in the upcoming week. I really enjoy your segment and your website.

There are so many photos that I like. Since I can’t chose all of them. I will choose my favorite. There is a portrait version in color showing an old key in a nest, with a leaf. This photo is in her Nature slideshow. I love this concept. It is not only beautiful, but it is creative. I have never seen a photo concept such as this. I love the old key. I notice that she uses the key in some of her other work. It is almost as though this is her signature prop. Love it!
