Four Living Room Organization Tips that You Can Use Today

[1]

Have you ever started looking for ways to organize your living room, only to realize you needed more storage containers? So you went to the store, bought a bunch of organizational stuff, and then came back in worse shape than you started?

Frustrating, isn’t it?

Thankfully, living room organization doesn’t have to be nearly that difficult. Here are four tips for living room organization you can implement TODAY that will show you real results by tonight.

Want more of this?  This is the fifth in a series of Frugal Ways To Organize Your Home [2]!  I also have started a Pinterest Board called How To Organize My Home [3].  I will be putting all of my posts on there as well as other things I find online that look interesting to me!

1. Set Up a Toy Jail

Tired of picking up toys, clothes and books your children leave lying around? Set a cardboard box in the corner and call it “toy jail.” Every time you have to pick up a toy, it goes in “jail,” and your children don’t get it back until they complete a chore. If your kids are messy, they’ll have the house cleaned in no time! (And they’ll quickly learn to put their own toys away.)

2. Donate Old Books, Movies and Games

If you love reading, watching movies or playing games with your family, you probably have quite a collection taking up space in your home. While it’s good to have a few books and movies on hand, if you have more than you could possibly watch or ones that the kids have outgrown, donate them and use that space for something else!

3. Get a Mail Sorter

Don’t let mail pile up, creating a mess and increasing the chances you’ll forget to pay one of your bills. Get a mail sorter. Personally, I love the shutter mail sorters I’ve seen on Pinterest [4]. A box on the wall near the entry way can work well too. Deal with mail as soon as it comes in and it won’t accumulate.

**Email subscribers [5]will be getting an awesome shutter mail sorter tutorial by email very soon! Be sure to sign up today [5]!

4. Invest in Kid Friendly Closet Organization

If your children are too small to hang their coats in the closet or to put their hats and gloves away, they likely leave them on the floor for you to pick up. A better solution would be to install kid friendly closet organization. A hanging shoe holder lets them put their shoes away right at their own height, and a 3M Hook on the back of the door lets them hang up their own coats as well.
