Five Simple but Effective Master Bedroom Organization Tips

Master Bedroom Organization Tips

[1]

Of all the rooms in my home, my master bedroom is the one that gets cleaned the least frequently. After all, we never have guests in it and we don’t spend much time in it during the day, so it’s really easy to just close the door and forget about it.

I’ll admit, this isn’t a very good strategy.

After all, your master bedroom is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night. You definitely want to learn how to organize a master bedroom if you want to start your day off on the right foot. I know I do. So without further ado, here are five master bedroom organization tips I’m going to start putting into place today. Hopefully you will too!

Want more of this?  This is the third in a series of Frugal Ways To Organize Your Home [2]!  I also have started a Pinterest Board called How To Organize My Home [3].  I will be putting all of my posts on there as well as other things I find online that look interesting to me!

1. Get Rid of Clothes You No Longer Wear

The more clothes you have, the more clothes you have to sort through every day when you figure out what to wear. Go through and ruthlessly eliminate anything you never or hardly ever wear. If it doesn’t fit anymore, it isn’t your style, it has holes and stains, or you haven’t worn it in the last 12 months, give it away, add it to the rag pile, throw it away or donate it.

2. Store Clothes Seasonally

Next, separate out your out-of-season and nice dress clothes that can be stored elsewhere. This one simple task can dramatically reduce your master bedroom clutter in a single afternoon.  After all, your formal wear doesn’t need to hang next to your favorite sweater.

3. Use Underbed Storage

Once you’ve separated the clothes you don’t need to have at-hand right now, you need to find a place to store them. Store clothes you hardly ever wear but need to keep (such as a suit or fancy dress) in the attic, garage, basement or guest room closet. Store clothes you need to occasionally swap out under the bed in plastic storage totes [4].

4. Get Rid of All the Junk

Has your bedroom become a catching ground for all of the stuff that doesn’t have a home? Take a large trash bag and a box and go through and gather up everything that doesn’t belong. Return the kids’ clothes and toys to their rooms. Throw any trash and old papers away. Finally hang up those pictures you’ve had sitting out for ages. Take out as much stuff as you can.

5. Use Baskets and Hooks

Now that your clothes are all put away and your master bedroom only contains the essential items, go through and find creative storage items for everything that’s left. Loop ties and scarves around hangers in your closet. Hang belts [5] on a nail. Use a basket to corral all of your beauty supplies and a pretty coffee mug for your change.

The good news is, once you learn how to organize a master bedroom effectively, keeping it organized really isn’t that bad. These master bedroom organization tips will help!
