Easy to Make Calzones

If you are looking for a good quick dinner and a chance to spend some time with your kids this great recipe for a “Weeknight Calzone” could solve your dilemma!  This is so easy the kids can help you out!

Most of the ingredients in this recipe are easily purchased with coupons.  Combine those with veggies that will freeze and this could be a great low budget dinner!

Ingredients
Pizza dough ($.40/2 printable coupon [1])
Tomato Sauce (you can use spagetti or pizza sauce)
Mozarella Cheese
Whatever toppings you want- veggies, meat, extra cheese (etc)

[2]

Step 1: Roll out pizza dough and cut in to 6 equal pieces (don’t forget to spray pan if using a nonstick surface). I am a  big fan of my pizza stone [3].

[4]

Step 2: Add Ingredients to 1 side of dough- don’t overfill!  You could top it with anything you normally like on your pizza (for me it would be green peppers!)

[5]

Step 3: Fold closed & take a fork to press down the edges to seal

Step 4: (Optional) I also sprinkled some Garlic salt on top because I love garlic and wanted the dough to have some extra flavor

[6]

Step 5: Bake till golden brown!  (following directions on can of pizza dough)

[7]

This would be a great recipe to add to your list.  Put some veggies in the calzone and add a salad to make this a healthy meal!

A huge thank you to my friend and co-teacher Brandy for the pictures and recipe!
