Zaycon Foods Taking Orders for Ground Beef ($3.49 lb)

If you have taken my coupon class, read my website or seen me on television you know how I get great deals on my meat.

I use Zaycon Foods and they deliver to all 48 states in the lower US.

Zaycon Foods is a company that comes out to Hampton Roads about once a quarter bringing with them FRESH (never frozen meat).

In November they are bringing out ground beef to most areas in the US.

Here is the information on their ground beef (It is 93/7 ground beef and when I brown it I NEVER have to drain it.  It tastes incredible and their prices are much cheaper than the grocery store.):

• LFTB Free

• Comes in a 40-lb case with four 10-lb chubs per case (approximate weight)

• No chemicals, additives or water added to meat during processing

• Processed at a USDA-inspected, state-of-the-art plant employing strict operating protocols (including HACCP) and the highest in food-safety standards

• Prior to processing, inspectors from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service randomly sample cattle under a monitoring plan and perform testing for antibiotic residues

* USDA nutrition labeling standards defines “extra lean” and “lean” ground beef based on the lean/fat ratio. While not part of these guidelines, the term “super lean” is often used in the grocery sector to describe ground beef at the upper end of the “lean” category (i.e., “Zaycon Foods 93/7 Super Lean Ground Beef”). This ground beef product is 93% lean and 7% fat

When you get meat from Zaycon you order it online in advance.   When you place the order they let you know what date and time the meat will be available.  When you go to pick it up it looks very much like carpool line at school- you stay in your car and pull up to the truck.  After handing them the receipt out the window they will grab your box (or boxes), drop them in your trunk or back seat and then you drive off.

The ground beef comes in 4 ten pounds chubs (or tubes) so it’s VERY easy to split a 40 pound box with your friends if you don’t think you will go through all of it.  Once you get it home you will need to divide it however you prefer- I usually just put it in one pound bags and throw it in the freezer.

The price for Ground Beef this visit is $3.49.

By now if you read my site with any regularity you have seen me talk about Zaycon Foods.

I buy all my chicken from Zaycon Foods– they sell FRESH (never frozen) boneless skinless split chicken breasts.  It is 100 % natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients.  It is sold by the case — which weighs 40 lbs.

And it only costs $1.69 lb!  So a 40 pound case is $67.60.  If that sounds like a lot of chicken the box is only 18 in wide x 12 in deep x 7 in tall.  And since they only come once every three months that is only 13 pounds of chicken a month.  For a family of 4 you probably go through 13 pounds a month EASILY.

And in case you didn’t believe me when I told you how amazing they are- Good Morning America will tell you.  (There is no way for me to put the video in this post so just click HERE to watch it.)

The price for Ground Beef this visit is $3.29.

Locals: Bring Back Zaycon Foods

I know that many of my readers have taken advantage of the amazing deal on meats from Zaycon Foods.  And many of you who haven’t had the chance yet have been waiting for them to come back to Hampton Roads.

So we have waited.  And left messages.  And got nothing.

Until today.

I was forwarded an e-mail from a reader who finally heard back from Zaycon that as of right now they have no plans to come back to Hampton Roads.  Zaycon hasn’t heard enough from us.

It’s time they hear from us.  I NEED my chicken.

So if you are in Hampton Roads and want Zaycon to come back we need to band together and let them know.

Here is what you can do to let them know:

1.  Leave a message on the Zaycon Facebook Page.  Let them know you are in Hampton Roads and want them back!

2.  If you don’t want to use Facebook or you just want to take an additional step you can drop them an e-mail at z@zayconfoods.com.

3.  If you have been waiting to sign up for Zaycon until I told you they were coming to town- DO IT NOW!

Basically we need to show them that if they come back they will make some money!

13 Pounds of Ground Beef Later

Tonight I went and picked up 40 lbs of ground beef from Zaycon Foods.  I split this box with my mom and sis, so that left me with 13 pounds of ground beef.

I thought it might be hard to come up with ideas for the ground beef.  It turns out my stock pile provided almost all of them.

The meat comes in a big box, sealed securely in 10 pound tubes.

Since we were splitting the 40 lbs three ways we just split one tube into three parts.

Then I took mine home and divided it into one pound increments.

After opening my pantry I discovered marinara sauce and taco seasoning!

So I now have two bags each of ready to go taco meat and spagetti sauce.  The rest will be saved for future use.

How To Save Money on Meat- Zaycon Foods

One of the big questions I often get asked is how to save money on meat.  There are coupons for it but it’s something people usually need to buy every week.  And for those of you with teenagers keeping meat in the house can be a big challenge.

Enter Zaycon Foods.  I had the opportunity to try some of Zaycon’s chicken last week and it was so good!  Their chicken is 100% natural with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients.  And they sell at fantastic prices- usually between $1.49 and $1.69 a pound for the good stuff.

The reason they can afford to do that- they deliver in 40 lb packages.  Now before you say “what on earth can I do with 40 lbs of chicken” let me show you how small the box is that 40 pounds of chicken comes in.

If you have a freezer you can fit this.  It was about 45 chicken breasts- at three in a normal freezer bag that is only 15 bags.  I put some in a deep freezer and some in my regular freezer.  They are split breasts so I thought they would be a pain to get ready to freeze- but my meat scissors took care of it.  They are already skinless so I just split them and chopped off the little bit of fat.

The picture above is two of the chicken breasts after I trimmed them up- they are about half the size of a kitchen plate when they are raw.  Then I dropped three of them in a bag, wrote the date on the outside and froze them.

If you looked at Zaycon’s map on their site you will see there are many areas in the country where they do not yet sell their products.  Here is the deal- once they get a certain number of people signed up in an area they will begin preparing to deliver their products once a quarter.  This doesn’t mean everyone has to buy every time they come to town.

Did I mention that when you buy the chicken you pull in, pop the trunk, they drop the chicken into your vehicle in a sealed bag and you drive off?  It’s like drive thru chicken.

So if you are interested in learning more about Zaycon Foods check out their site.  Once you see how awesome it is register!  There is no obligation and you don’t have to give them your credit card information.
