Reader Shopping Trip: $1.78

This past Saturday (2/5) my co-teacher and I had the pleasure of teaching a coupon class at Melissa’s house in Virginia Beach.  She e-mailed me yesterday to show me how her first post-couponing class trip went (although she has been messing around with coupons for a bit).  I asked her if I could show you.

After all the store credit and coupon use, she received everything in the picture for $1.78 out of pocket!  Here is how she did it:

Rite Aid

Halls Cough Drops $1.00 each. Earn a $1UP! with purchase of 2. I had a $1 off (2) Halls coupon. OOP $1 Earn $1UP!

Betty Crocker Frosting and Cake Mix $2.00 each. Coupon for 75 cents off the purchase of both. Earn $4 in UP! with purchase of both. ($2UP! advertised, plus unadvertised $1UP! per item) OOP $3.25 Earn $4UP!

Mentos on sale for 50 cents. 50 cents off coupon. OOP $0

(2)Excedrin Menstrual 20 count on sale for $1.99. Each box had a $1 off coupon. OOP $1.98

Excedrin Extra Strength 20 count $1.99. Used $1.00 off coupon. OOP $.99

Excendrin PM 20 count $1.99. Had a $2.50 off MFR coupon. OOP -$.51

Old Spice Deodorant on sale $4 each. When you buy 2, you earn $3UP!. I had a BOGO FREE coupon. OOP $4.00 Earn $3UP!

Lysol Neutra Air Fabric Mist $2.50 each. Earn $1UP! when you buy 2. I bought two, and used (2) $1.00 off coupons. OOP $3 Earn $1UP!

(2) Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner $3.49 BOGO FREE, so $1.75 each. I also had a $2 off (2) Scrubbing Bubbles. OOP $1.49.

I cashed in my $15 in expiring UP! Rewards I previously earned.

Total OOP- $1.08 EARNED $9UP! Rewards

Walgreens

(3) rolls of Walgreens Aluminum Foil $.69 each when you use in-ad coupon OOP-$2.07

2 Gain dish soaps on sale $1.00 each. Used (2) $.25 off coupons OOP-$1.50

2 Febreze Fabric Refresher $4.71 each

2 Febreze Neutra Air $2.50 each

I had (2) BOGO FREE coupons. The way the coupons worked out is one free Fabric Refresher and one free Neutra Air. Plus, when spending $10, you earn $2 RR

Total OOP-$11.70 PLUS $2 Register Rewards

So her actual total spent in cash was $12.78. BUT she now has $11 in store credit to use on her next visit making her Out Of Pocket cost $1.78!

Thanks so much for sharing Melissa!

Advertisements

I advertise on my blog using Google Adsense, as well as a few other advertisers.  I have TONS of categories blocked including political and religious ads, as well as other things I consider inappropriate material.

Unknown to me it looks like an advertisement for a company called Quibids had made it onto my blog.  I have gone into my settings and tried blocking additional advertisements.  In addition I will be working with my computer guy tonight to make sure we can get rid of it.

I REALLY appreciate the people who e-mailed today to let me know.  Especially on Sundays I am usually at church until about 2 in the afternoon so the blog is running without my supervision.  PLEASE let me know if any inappropriate material pops up so I can get rid of it immediately!

Food Lion Coupon Policy

I have had many readers and coupon class attendees tell me that they have had a hard time using coupons at Food Lion.  And while Food Lion doesn’t double or triple coupons, occasionally they have good deals that make a stop by your local store worth it.  So I wanted to post their coupon policy for your reference:

They do not take expired or competitors coupons.

They do accept manufacturer’s coupons, internet coupons, and  catalina checkout coupons.

They do not give cash back.

You can not coupon stack and they will take a maximum of ten coupons for the same type of item.

They do not accept internet coupons that appear to be fradulent or FREE coupons (meaning the coupon is specifically for a free item).

Save Up 2010

** In the picture from left to right: Tiffany from My Litter, Jasmine from DEALiscious Finds, Me and Jessica from This Frugal Life. **

I want to thank each and every one of you again who voted for me to attend Savings.com’s 2010 Conference in Chicago this past week.  There is absolutely no way to tell you how helpful and uplifting my time was.  Not only was it a beautiful city with amazing weather, but the bloggers were the most incredible, giving, generous, normal people I have ever met.

Although I was a bit starstruck around some of the very successful people, they were so nice and gave me great advice on how to make this blog both a better business and a better tool for you to use for savings.

You will probably see their names pop up from time to time by publishing guest posts and hopefully many will contribute to helping get free items to those in need

Thank you again and don’t be surprised if I start asking next year to send me to Save Up 2011!

Chicago- Here I Come

When this post goes up, hopefully I will be on my flight heading to Chicago for the Savings.com Deal Pro Conference.   A big THANK YOU again to all who voted for me, I promise to work very hard to learn how to make this blog even more valuable!

My mom and I are going a day early so I can see Chicago (I have only ever been in the airport!)  I am looking forward to pizza,  the Museum of Science and Industry, and bargain shopping at Feline’s Basement

Then starting Thursday night I will be with some of the best savings bloggers in the country picking their brains and learning from their experience.

So my posts may be a bit thin until Sunday but I will do my best to keep the deals coming in between seminars.  Thank you again for this amazing opportunity!

I Am A Savings.com Deal Pro!

So you guys helped me to get to Chicago for the Save Up conference, but I haven’t had much time to talk about who is sending me!  So I wanted to take a moment and give them some love today!

Savings.com is the company sponsoring the Save Up 2010 Conference.  While their website has many cool features I wanted to show you what I think is the coolest one today.

When you get to their site, click on the Get Advice tab.  In it, people post questions about certain items and let us Deal Pros go scouring around for the best answer!

So let’s say you want a copy of the newest Halo video game and want to know the best price.  Just post the question and sit back to watch the answers roll in!  What could be easier than that?

Go ahead and give it a shot!  You may be surprised at the answers you get!
