How to Make Money at Rite Aid this week

People always ask how to make money shopping. This week at Rite Aid is a great chance to do just that.

There are a variety of ways this week, but this one is my favorite:
Before you go, print the $5 off of $25 coupon, the $5 Zantac coupon, and the $1 children’s cough syrup coupon. Also, grab the $1 off Popcorn Ball coupon in All You Magazine (if you bought it).

So you take those 4 coupons to Rite Aid. And you pick up the 24 count Zantac, the children’s cough syrup, the three popcorn balls, the EOS lip balm, and the Blink Tears Lubricant Eye Drops.

When you get to the register, this will total $27.96 (before tax). Give them the $5 off of $25 coupon. This brings the total to $22.96.

Then hand them the $5 off Zantac, the $1 off of cough syrup and the $1 off the popcorn balls.

This brings the total to $15.96, which you will pay out of pocket.

Then you go home to RiteAid.com and enter in your receipt information. This will give you the following rebates:
$8.99 for the Zantac
$7.99 for the eye drops
$1.99 for the lip balm
$7.99 for the cough syrup
Total rebate: $26.96.

$26.96 rebate – $15.96 out of pocket = a profit of $11.00

You can make $11 by shopping at Rite Aid!

Dealing with Family and Coupons

Sometimes it’s tough when the people in your family don’t support your couponing habits. If you need to convince a significant other, Ryan (husband of a very frugal lady) has a few suggestions here.

Kids Eat Free!

Many places are starting to have “Kids Eat Free” nights in order to get some business in the door. (Remember that many of these places are franchises. You should always call ahead of time to make sure they are having kids night before you leave the house!)

Here are some of the more popular places:

Chick Fil-A: Tuesday night from 5-8. Get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal. PLUS you can use coupons on top of that savings! And, depending on your individual location, they usually have activities for the kids. Thanks to Leanna for e-mailing about this one!

Moe’s Southwestern Grill – Monday. Children eat free with an adult purchase.

Qdoba- Kids eat free weeknights!

Atlanta Bread Company- Kids Eat free on Tuesday nights!

It also seems from posts that both Denny’s and Applebee’s usually have one night a week but it varies from city to city. Give your favorite one a call- you never know what you might find out!

The Television Fund

TV will never be a serious competitor for radio because people must sit and keep their eyes glued on a screen; the average American family hasn’t time for it. ~Author Unknown, from New York Times, 1939

My television is the busiest electronic item in my house. It pretty much comes on when I walk in the door and turns off when I go to bed. It provides background noise while I do everything except read. I live alone, so I have sole control of the remote and the content of the shows I watch.

Yesterday I thought my television broke- I tried a few things and couldn’t get it to work. It made me very sad- my parents gave me that television as birthday gift right after I came home from college and it has been great for those 9 years. So I went to the thrift store and bought a tiny television to use for the time being. But when I plugged in the tiny television I got the same error. It was the DVR! Switched out a few cords, rebooted some stuff and my television is good as new!

However it got me thinking that one day either that television or the little one in my bedroom is going to break. And I would like to upgrade to a flatscreen that would take up less room and show off the High Definition that the wonderful network people have tried so hard to bring into my living room. But I don’t want to go broke doing it.

So I am going to try to get my new television at no cost to me. No, I don’t expect someone to give it to me- I want to see if I can earn the money to pay for it on-line (through taking surveys) and through rebates. And since I am not in a hurry to replace my current television (to which I have a sentimental attachment) I can take my time.

So I am inviting you on my television aquiring journey. Every month I will post how I am doing money wise and let you know the sources of my income/gift cards in case you want to take advantage! We will see together how long it takes!

Upromise

I have seen information on Upromise for a long time on blogs but have never gotten around to checking it out until yesterday. After looking over their website and seeing testimonials on-line, I think this has got to be the easiest way to save some money for future education, whether it be for you or someone else. Also, if you have a current Sallie Mae loan from past education, the money saved can be used to help pay down that balance.

There are two ways to earn money on Upromise once you register.

1- Register your frequent user cards. Most people have a frequent user card for their grocery store and drug store. There are thousands of products that will give you a percentage back if you purchase them using the registered card (all you have to do is use your card for great sales the same way you do now). Once the card is registered it automatically checks for that item. As long as your frequent user card is current this money will always be saved.

2- Upromise e-coupons. Every month upromise loads coupons onto their web site. You then log into your account and select the coupons you would like to load onto your card. Let’s say you get the $1.50 off Huggies coupon. When you go to the store and buy Huggies, $1.50 goes into your Upromise account, even if you are already using coupons in the store.

Here are the coupons that were added for this month:
$0.45/1 Little Debbie 100 Calorie Cakes

I could write about all of this for a while, but I challenge you to take a few minutes and log onto their website and look around. If you are trying to save for an education imagine what could happen if a whole family came together and registered their cards to help send someone to school!
