Coupon Class Open to the Public

Normally when I teach coupon classes, I prefer to do them in homes with a close group of friends. However Atlantic Shores Baptist Church has offered to open up a room to me for two dates to do classes.

The classes will be taught on July 8th and July 15th, and should run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The classes will be identical to one another, so you only need to attend one to get all the great information. There are additional dates available if these classes fill up. Also if you would like to attend but can not come on a Thursday let me know and if we can get a full class, we can schedule for an alternative evening.

Each class participant receives a workbook, some starter coupons and atleast one attendee will receive a coupon oriented door prize. Here are some of the topics we discuss:

Sources for Coupons
Coupon Organization
Coupon Policies
Shopping Preparation
Drug Store Deals
Local Farmers Markets
Uses for Expired Coupons
… and much more!

The cost per class will be $10 a person, as long as we get more than 10 people in each class (which I do not think will be a problem). The maximum class size is 12 people. Non-refundable payment will need to be made ahead either by credit card or check.

If you are interested in attending, please use the contact me link to drop me a line. Please let me know which night you would like to attend, and I can send you the payment information.

I would be excited to meet many of you and share my love for couponing and saving money!

Friday is Mega Swag Bucks Day

Don’t forget today is Friday . . . . . That means Mega Swagbucks Day!!! That means that you can win up to 1000 Swagbucks just for searching the internet!!!

If you don’t use Swagbucks, you need to check it out! Swagbucks is a search engine, powered by Google, that gives you points for searching the internet. Just use it like you would Google or Bing, but you earn points for seaches. After you have banked enough points, you can trade them in for free items! Plus, they often offer special Swag Codes for additional points as well, so it’s not hard to rack up enough points to redeem often!

With Swagbucks you can earn gift cards (my personal favorite) and other rewards just by searching the internet. IPods, LCD televisions, and IPhones are some of the more fun items in the Swag Store- I personally am getting Amazon $5 gift cards toward a new television. It’s only 45 swag points to get a $5 gift card!

Plus, if you use this link here you can earn 30 Swag Bucks just for signing up!

Locals Only: Huge Sale on Silly Bandz

I confess… until about a week ago I had no clue what a Silly Band was. Then one of my voice students came in and handed me a little microphone that also looked like a bracelet. Thus began my education.

If you have a kid at home, however, I am willing to bet you are VERY familiar with Silly Bandz. And they are expensive (they brought back memories of how badly I wanted a bubble necklace in middle school).

Sam from The 39er in Virginia Beach has e-mailed to let me know that they are carrying them. They currently have baseball, sea, zoo, animals, princess, farm, phrases, cowboy, animals, girl and a glitter princess. And MUCH cheaper than other stores. They are currently $1.59 for a dozen or $2.98 for an alphabet pack (the next batch will go up to $1.98 for a dozen as the supplier realizes what a gold mine they are sitting on). Plus, don’t forget to take in a coupon to make it a great deal!

So print out a coupon and make sure to go check them out at 3756 Virginia Beach Blvd in Virginia Beach or give them a call at 757-498-1334!

$25 Itunes card for $15 at Rite Aid

Rite Aid has a coupon in their flyer for this week. It is for $5 off a $25 Itunes card. This alone is a good deal.

Some stores (depending on the manager) will also let you use the online coupon for $5 off of $25, making the final price $15!

This could be a great graduation or Father’s Day gift!

Thanks My Frugal Adventures!

Locals Only: New Coupon for The 39er

Each month, The 39er in Virginia Beach gives A Frugal Chick readers an exclusive coupon. This month, it is Buy One Get One free! If you don’t know about The 39er, read my earlier post below!

Giving a beautifully wrapped gift and meaningful card can make a great impression. It can also get extremely expensive. Between the card, tissue and wrapping paper, gift bags and ribbon you can go broke before you even consider the cost of the gift itself!

Personally I would rather get someone a nice gift and not go broke wrapping it. Those of us who live in Hampton Roads have a little known gem available to help off set this cost.

On Virginia Beach Blvd in the Birchwood Shopping Center there is a store called “the 39er.” I have been going there for almost three years because of their amazing prices on cards, wrapping paper and party supplies!

ALL of the greeting cards in the store are $.39 and include a lot of the same brand names you see in big stores. The roll of wrapping paper I looked at today was $.89 and so was the package of tissue paper. Gift bags (depending on size) usually run in that same price range. They also have packs of invitations for parties or thank you notes- most are right around $1!

In addition they have party supplies. Valentines, St. Patrick’s Day, Mardi Gras, birthdays, poker nights, graduation… just about everything you can think of! They have streamers, tablecloths, cups and napkins available in tons of colors and prints at HUGELY discounted prices- most even cheaper than your local dollar store.

Also, for organizations (teachers, churches etc.) they can order items in large quantities and get them even cheaper! Need to throw a banquet? Check them out to cut way back on your decorating costs! Doing a unit in school with a special theme? You can get everything you need from “the 39er.”

Locals Only: Looking for Consignors

Having a yard sale is a pain. Besides having to do the marketing you tie up your Saturday morning sitting in your drive way watching people dig through your things.

A local company, www.simpleresalefundraising.com, helps you make getting rid of your stuff easy and puts some extra cash in your pocket. Here is how it works:

1. Go through the items in your home. They are specifically looking for kid’s merchandise- clothes (up to size 14), toys, sports equipment, small furniture, baby items and maternity items.

2. Register to become a cosignor at www.simpleresale.com. You can pick the specific sale where you would like your items sold (there are two dates available on the site currently).

3. Tag all of your items with the sale price. You will receive 50% of what your items sell for. The other 50% is donated to the school hosting the sale.

4. Bring your items to the location of the sale a few days before and drop them off.

THAT’S IT!

After the sale, you can either choose to come and pick up your remaining items or have them donated. If you choose to donate, Simple Resale will deliver them for you and make sure you receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Within 48 hours after the sale, you can look on line and see how much money you made!

Within 5 days after the sale, you will receive your check for your portion of the sales, your receipt for tax purposes (if needed) and your donated inventory lists!

So if you have been trying to figure out what to do with the things your kids have outgrown but didn’t want to go through the hassle of trying to sell them yourself, this is a perfect opportunity to make some money!

Today is National Don’t Fry Day

The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention has designated the Friday before Memorial Day as “Don’t Fry Day” to raise awareness of skin cancer prevention and to encourage everyone to protect their skin as they head outdoors to kick off the summer season.

As someone who had a family member deal with skin cancer, I think this topic is extremely important. As we head into the summer months, it is vital people learn how to protect themselves!

To lend a hand Rite Aid is supplying it’s stores with a 12-page, full-color skin care guide beginning May 30th and online at www.riteaid.com. The guide covers a wide range of topics including:

* Daily skin care tips to prevent damage and fight wrinkles including the role of sunscreen, vitamin C serum, hydroxy acid, silicone, retinol and other products in a daily regimen

* Safe alternatives to tanning such as using the latest generation of natural-looking self-tanners that temporarily dye skin and can even serve as a base sunscreen

* Potentially life-saving tips to catch cancer early such as using the ABCDEs to be wary of moles that change asymmetry, borders, color, diameter or are otherwise evolving or changing

* The difference between UVA and UVB rays and how to best choose a sunscreen blocking both

* Diabetes-specific skin care

Rite Aid is further encouraging good skin care by offering shoppers a Single Check Rebate gift of a $10 store gift card with a $25 purchase of select skin care products or a $25 store gift card with a $50 purchase of select skin care products. A complete list of participating skin care products as well as all program restrictions are included in the June Single Check Rebate directory available at all Rite Aid stores.

Plus customers who use their wellness+ card with their qualifying skin care purchases will receive an additional $5 gift card.
