Taking Back My Morning With Seattle’s Best #TakeBackYourMorning

When it comes to mornings, I am selfish. I have always enjoyed “me” time in the morning to leisurely get ready, eat breakfast, and watch the morning news. Mornings were mine and my hubby knew not to throw it off by making pancakes and eggs or asking me to do something that wasn’t planned.

Fast forward 5 years to present day with two kiddos and mornings are no longer mine whether I am working or not. I try hard to not be a fuss bucket because of all that has to get done in the mornings to get the kids to school/ day care and for me to get to work on time. Just thinking about it stresses me out.

Recently I heard about a challenge from Seattle’s Best Coffee to take back my morning.

slide-win

After giving it much thought, I figured out that giving myself an extra thirty minutes to get control of my mornings may be beneficial for everyone in the family. I started by going to Wal Mart to buy Seattle’s Best Coffee. You can see my adventures here. Each morning I would get up thirty minutes early whether I had to go to work or not. For a week now, I have been getting up an extra thirty minutes in order to have “me” time to include a cup of Seattle’s Best and a cinnamon raisin english muffin.

take back

I thoroughly enjoyed my week and plan to continue. As the summer approaches when I do not enjoy hot coffee any longer, I will switch over to iced coffee or cappuccino and use this recipe found here.

If you are struggling in the mornings like I was, join the challenge and take back your morning too!

Home Run Movie Review #HomeRunMovie

Dinner and a movie is popular with my husband and myself if its  just the two of us or a group of friends. It is what we enjoy doing whether going out or staying in. Last Sunday night was no different. We invited friends and leaders from church over to have tacos and preview the movie Home Run which is coming out in theaters April 19th. For the viewing we were sent the DVD, a sound track, novel, and  a couple of t-shirts which I gave away to our guests.

movie stuff
Since the movie does not come out until April 19th, we were sent one of the first editions and there was no menu on the DVD, just the countdown from 8. Us movie geeks got pretty excited about that.

movie time

Once the movie was started, we popped some popcorn, broke out the candy, and got comfy while viewing the movie.

Home Run is an Impact Productions film produced by David Boyd and stars Vivica Fox, Dorian Brown, and Scott Elrod. It is a faith based film that centers around a major league baseball player that struggles with overcoming childhood abuse, alcohol addiction, and anger management.

After getting ejected from a baseball game main character Cory, played by David Boyd, is forced to return to his hometown to coach a little league baseball team and complete an 8 week Celebrate Recovery program. Although at first he is eager to return to his baseball career, coaching the young baseball team allows Cory to find joy in the game again. It forces him to realize the need to reflect on his past, find a way to forgive, and look to the future for hope and freedom. Cory finds himself on a path of redemption and new found faith in God.

In my opinion this movie is a “home run” and will be a hit when it comes out on the big screen April 19th. The story line, character development, and cinematography were well done. It far surpassed other faith-based films that have been done in the past.

Dave, our pastor friend said “It is like the baseball version of Mighty Ducks. It was very well done and would recommend my congregation seeing it.”

Our Children’s Activity Coordinator friend said “I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind seeing it again.”

To find out if this movie will be premiered near you click here. If you would like to see Home Run in your local theater you can participate in the Batting 1000 program, which allows you to sign a petition to get ‘Home Run’ in theaters near you.
