Amazon Free Book Download: Summer People

It is late June in Michigan’s gold coast resort area. The summer residents are settling in for the season and the tourists are beginning to flood the highways and beaches. But the idyllic vision of a summer at the shore is suddenly shattered by a gangland-style shooting. This murder is quickly followed by the deaths of three more summer residents, each taking place under suspicious circumstances. At times hindered by local politics and the proverbial tension between the summer people and the natives, Sheriff Ray Elkins searches for the possible links between the four victims. As he probes into their tangled lives and dark histories, he finds both the motive and the possible murderer.

Today you can download Summer People for free to your PC, Kindle or Smart Phone.

It’s a very lengthy list and I think there are parks in almost every state!

So if you wanted to spend some time outside on your day off of work (for those lucky enough to have it) maybe plan a family trip to a National Park!

Amazon Free Download: Saving for Retirement without Living Like a Pauper or Winning the Lottery

Wow…a five star book about saving for retirement for free on Amazon?  You don’t see that often!

Right now you can download Saving for Retirement without Living Like a Pauper or Winning the Lottery for free.

I will only vouch for the accuracy of Dave Ramsey but this might be a good read too- when it comes to saving more than one person can be right!

“Leading financial columnist MarksJarvis presents the everyman’s guide to saving for retirement. The idea of navigating the world of 401Ks and Roth IRAs leaves many people scared, cold, or both. This book will help reduce the confusion, anxiety and avoidance that many people associate with saving for retirement. Informed by thousands of calls and emails from readers over the years, MarksJarvis understands exactly what people want and need to know about managing their personal finances. Here, she provides guidance and answers common questions in an organized and reader-friendly style. Readers will learn how to calculate what they’ll need for their nest egg, how to open an IRA, make sense of mutual funds and when to consult a financial advisor. Sensible–but not stuffy–this book will convince young people to start saving now, and will help ensure that panicked middle-aged readers will not be spending their golden years in the poor house.” –Kirkus Reports

Amazon Free Download: Water For Elephants

If you have Amazon Prime this is a GREAT freebie.

Right now you can download “Water for Elephants” for FREE to your Kindle, PC or Smart Phone reading app.

(In case you are going “why have I heard of that?” it was a recent movie with Robert Pattinson and Reese Whitherspoon.)

Here is the description of the book: Water for Elephants is the story of Jacob’s life with this circus. Sara Gruen spares no detail in chronicling the squalid, filthy, brutish circumstances in which he finds himself. The animals are mangy, underfed or fed rotten food, and abused. Jacob, once it becomes known that he has veterinary skills, is put in charge of the “menagerie” and all its ills. Uncle Al, the circus impresario, is a self-serving, venal creep who slaps people around because he can. August, the animal trainer, is a certified paranoid schizophrenic whose occasional flights into madness and brutality often have Jacob as their object. Jacob is the only person in the book who has a handle on a moral compass and as his reward he spends most of the novel beaten, broken, concussed, bleeding, swollen and hungover. He is the self-appointed Protector of the Downtrodden, and… he falls in love with Marlena, crazy August’s wife. Not his best idea.
