Amazon Free Book Download: Whale Song

This looks like a really good read.  As a person who was alive during the mass hysteria of “Free Willy” I think whales always are always interesting.

Today you can download “Whale Song” for free to your Kindle, PC or Smart Phone.  This book has almost a perfect 5 star rating.

Originally published in Canada in 2003 (but never distributed in the U.S.), this moving story features Sarah Richardson, whose family moves from the Montana countryside to Vancouver Island just as she’s about to enter sixth grade. Sarah soon finds that island life suits her perfectly–thanks, especially, to her new best friend, Goldie, whose Native American heritage Sarah finds fascinating, especially the wisdom passed to the girls from Goldie’s grandmother, Nana. Sarah is also intrigued to learn that her marine-biologist father shares a passion with her new Indian friends: killer whales, which the natives revere and her father studies. Life isn’t all native spirituality, however, as Sarah must confront a family tragedy that will change her life forever. Though overly melodramatic in places, Tardif’s story has that perennially crowd-pleasing combination of sweet and sad that so often propels popular commercial fiction, especially coming-of-age stories.

I had to post this- it looks like so much fun!

Right now you can download “The Breakfast Taco Book” for FREE to your Kindle, PC or Smart Phone.

Recipes cover everything from how to make your own tortillas and salsa to a wide variety of “taco-guts.” Bacon, Eggs, Home Fries, Chorizo, Nopalitos – we’ve got you covered!

Check out this feedback we’ve received from readers:

“Hilah, I made the Chorizo in your Breakfast Taco book and the flavor is spot on. It’s great, You have the flavor without the grease. Thank you very much, I don’t have to cook the grease out of chorizo before I use in a recipe anymore.” – Bob

“Thank you so much for a wonderful book! I love cookbooks that are more than just recipes. I’d have gladly paid to get it. I’m really looking forward to using it (especially the chorizo recipe) once I get the kitchen in my new apartment in order.” – Randy

“I had a brunch for 30 the other day and made your breakfast tacos and avocado salsa and people (after the confusion that they weren’t eating breakfast burritos) went nuts over them. AND I have so many leftover tortillas, I can have breakfast tacos for the rest of the year. hollah!” – AC

“This is exactly the book I needed. I’ve been away from home for a while…about 2 years in NY from San Antonio…and it’s lonely without some of my favorite tex-mex. I made frito pie the other day and my boyfriend was amazed at the idea of putting chili on top of chips. Thanks for the breakfast taco cook book! I love me some chorizo!” – Katherine

“We finally had breakfast tacos for the first time this morning, and OMG! SO good! Even my 2 year old had no trouble stuffing his face with the eggy, sausagey, salsa-verde-y, potatoey goodness, and my partner went back for seconds!” – Gill

Amazon Free Download: Extreme Money: Masters of the Universe and the Cult of Risk

I know I already posted a free book today but this one is usually $30 and had good reviews.

Right now you can download Extreme Money: Masters of the Universe and the Cult of Risk for free to your Kindle, PC or Smart Phone.

“A true insider’s devastating analysis of the financial alchemy of the last 30 years and its destructive consequences. With his intimate first-hand knowledge, Das takes a knife to global finance and financiers to reveal the inner workings without fear or favor.”

–Nouriel Roubini, Professor of Economics at NYU Stern School of Business and Chairman of Roubini Global Economics

“Das describes the causes of the financial crisis with the insight and understanding of a financial wizard, the candor and objectivity of an impartial observer, and a wry sense of humor that reveals the folly in it all.”

–Brooksley Born, Former Chairperson of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)

“This is the best book yet to come out of the financial crisis. Das is a graceful, witty writer, with an unusually broad range of reference. He is also a long-time master of the arcana of the netherworlds of finance and nicely balances historical sweep with illuminating detail. Extreme Money is lively, scathing, and wise. ”

–Charles Morris, Author of The Two Trillion Dollar Meltdown: Easy Money, High Rollers, and the Great Credit Crash

“Like Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Extreme Money launches you into a fascinating and disturbing alternative view of reality. But now greed predominates, the distorted world of finance is completely global, and the people making crazy decisions can ruin us all. This is an informative, entertaining, and deeply scary account of Hades’s new realm. Read it while you can. ”

–Simon Johnson, Ronald A. Kurtz Professor of Entrepreneurship at MIT Sloan School of Management and Author of 13 Bankers: The Wall Street Takeover and the Next Financial Meltdown

“You know when Lewis Caroll, Max Weber, Alan Greenspan, and Sigmund Freud all appear on the same early page that you are about to read an intellectual tour de force. Das is an authoritative and colorful critic of modern markets, and here he weaves financial history and popular culture into an entertaining and blistering social critique of how so many people have come to chase endless financial reflections of the real economy. Extreme Money speaks truth to power. ”

–Frank Partnoy, George E. Barrett Professor of Law and Finance at the University of San Diego and Author of F.I.A.S.C.O, Infectious Greed, and The Match King
