“Into The Woods”- Opening Next Week!

See anyone you know?

In case you missed my announcement last month I am involved in a local production of “Into The Woods.”    We open in just over a week so I am up to my eye balls in rehearsals.

We do occasionally take breaks to have fun though (and yes that is me with no make up and my hair not done).

If you are looking for some good live theater this summer you should come and check us out.

An Ambivalent Cinderella?  A Blood-Thirsty Little Red Ridinghood?  A Prince Charming with a Roving Eye?  A Witch…Who Raps?

They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale.

When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects (a cow as white as milk…a cape as red as blood…hair as yellow as corn…a slipper as pure as gold…) required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella (with the slipper as pure as gold) Little Red Ridinghood (with a cape as red as blood) Rapunzel (with the hair as yellow as corn) and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk – with the cow as white as milk).

Everyone’s wish is granted at the end of Act One but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results.

A Giant (A female Giant, that is) steps down from the heavens and straight upon some beloved characters. It takes a few lives before the survivors realize that they have to act altogether in order to succeed.

Thus, what begins a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

The show is about Fairy Tales but it’s a bit more Grimm then Disney so we are recommending kids 9 and over.  I am playing the character of Jack’s Mom- I have a giant beanstalk growing in my back yard and a hen who lays golden eggs!

I also wanted to introduce you to my son Jack, played by the amazing Dan McGary.  He is FANTASTIC to act with and we have a great time together.  Generally he is happier than that- someone was threatening to take his hen!

I will keep the deals coming but if it takes me a bit longer to get back to you with e-mails and such this is why.  The show must go on!

Do You Miss Me On Facebook?

If you use Facebook to keep up with your favorite deals (and sites like A Frugal Chick!) you may have noticed you don’t see all my post in your Facebook news feed.

This makes me sad.

To remedy this horrible situation here is something that may help:

1.  Log Into Your Facebook Account.

2.  Head over to A Frugal Chick’s Facebook page and “like” me (if you haven’t already).

3.  Hover over the Liked button and click on “Show in News Feeds”

4.  Continue to hover over the Liked button and click on “Settings”. Then click on “All Updates”

See how easy that was?  Now you should see all my updates in your news feed and never miss a deal!

Thanks Hip 2 Save!
