This new series is a request from my friends. Because I work at home and work best with the television on I “watch” an extraordinary amount of television. While there are very few shows I take the time to sit down and watch I probably have the television on 30 hours a week- some weeks more.
I am forever recommending series or movies to them and they forget them. So at the end of each month I will write down some shows I think you should check out- it’s totally my own taste but I will try to explain the shows the best I can and why I like them!
The X-Files: January 24th six new episodes of the X-Files will be aired on Fox. I have never watched the series but the excitement of my friends has made me want to check it out so likely I will be running these during January because all 9 Seasons of the X-Files are on Netflix. I’m not entirely sure I can handle 9 seasons but a working knowledge may make me excited for the new series.
When Calls The Heart: Sometimes you just want to watch something on the Hallmark Channel. Many of them are too cheesy with terrible acting but this one is much better than the usual fare. When I was younger I read the “When Calls The Heart” series by Jeanette Oke and found myself swept away in the world of the West one hundred years ago. This series picks right up in the same vein. Elizabeth Thatcher, a young school teacher from a wealthy Eastern family, migrates from the big city to teach school in a small coal mining town in the west. Of course she faces the normal perils of being a big city girl in a little town and, because there has to be, a good looking Mountie is also there keeping a watchful eye. The town has recently suffered a tragedy with a mining collapse and the majority of the men have been killed.
This is absolutely a family series with a faith-based theme. A great show everyone can watch together. Season 3 just began airing in December on the Hallmark Channel so hopefully we will see season two on netflix soon– currently there is only one season.
