Grocery Store Internet Coupon Policies

I have been getting alot of questions lately about internet coupons. I posted earlier this week about Internet Coupon ethics so that you can understand why some stores are so strict about how many and what type of internet coupons they will take. I am going to post the info for the stores around Hampton Roads. If you would like to know others, just leave me a comment and I will do some research!

Harris Teeter

•We gladly accept internet manufacturer’s coupons for products; however no “free” product internet coupons are accepted.
•With the purchase of two like manufacturer’s products, we accept two internet coupons, per store, per day.
•We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan.

Wal-Mart- Accepts Internet Coupons
– No more than 40 coupons per transaction
– Internet coupons should be legible and say “Manufacturer Coupon.” There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.

Farm Fresh
Farm Fresh has no coupon policy on the internet. I know they accept internet coupons but I have never tried to use more than 2 identical in one purchase. If anybody has, please let me know!

Food Lion
Food Lion also has no published coupon policy. I have used printable coupons there numerous times and as long as they scan, they have always taken them. I have never tried more than two internet coupons per item per transaction. If you have, please let me know!

Kroger
Kroger tends to vary a bit store to store. But on the whole Kroger accepts Internet printable coupons as long as they scan, but they do not accept Internet printable coupons for free products. They will accept 3 Internet coupons per transaction.

If there are any other stores you would like me to ask, or if you have any additional info, please leave me a comment and I will see what I can find!

Coupon Organizers

People ask me all the time what the best way is to organize coupons. The answer is “whatever way works for you.” Depending on how many coupons you plan on keeping and how you shop, one method may work better for you than another.

Most people start with some kind of small envelope with dividers.   Some people just grab some actual envelopes and label them, while others get a small accordion like file and divide them up that way. This is a great way to start so you can see if you like that sense of organization. Here is a great example on Amazon: Coupon Organizer and Holder – Clear -13 Pockets. Like I said before, these are pretty easy to find at a local Target or Wal-Mart.

I personally started with a recipe box and some index cards (I actually still use this method). I don’t recommend this if you are planning on carrying your coupons in a purse (unless you have a big purse). I just keep my box in the car and set it in the cart with me at the grocery store. Amazon has a cute green one A&W Products Card File Box, Assorted Colors (38101), mine is plain brown.

If you outgrow the box or the envelopes, you may graduate to something as large as a photo album or a three ring binder. You can use special pages with slits designed purely for coupons or you can grab some baseball card dividers. I grabbed a picture of a great one on-line and you can see it to your left.

Whatever method you decide to use, just make sure you use what is best for you. Whether you take baby steps or jump in feet first, couponing is a great way to save money!
