A Frugal Chick’s New Coupon Class is Ready

Coupon Questions

For the last two months I have been working on a new coupon class!  After a few trial classes it is finally ready to be unleashed on Hampton Roads!

As of right now there will be two classes open to the public- a mini class in April in Norfolk, VA and a full class in July in Virginia Beach, VA.  Details about both will be forthcoming on the “coupon class” tab on the top of my site.

The easiest way to attend the class is to hold one yourself.  When your organization sits down to plan their year consider letting me come and be your entertainment/educational experience!  If you agree to open up the class to the public I will put the information on my website and you will make many of my readers happy!

7 Weeks to Savings Success Class

If your organization is interested I can come and teach my “7 Weeks to Savings Success” class.  I have taught church groups, military groups, teachers groups and just groups of friends who wanted to get together for fun on a Friday night!

It takes about two hours and has seven weeks of follow up e-mails to ensure success for those who decide they want to follow through.  I don’t require any kind of technology- just a room with people who want to learn.  There is no minimum or maximum class size.  There are some handouts that need to be printed as well (about 10 pages) and those are the responsibility of the host.

The cost of the class is $125 plus any applicable mileage fees from Chesapeake, VA.  If you are military please contact me and we can discuss a military discount.

One Hour Coupon Seminar

If you would like a shorter class I also do a one hour “Q & A” class as well. Generally I pick the topics based on the audience and save lots of time for thorough answers to questions.  Participants just bring pen and paper to take notes and it’s much more casual in nature.

The cost of this class is $60 plus any applicable mileage fees from Chesapeake, VA.

If this sounds like a great fit for you just e-mail me at afrugalchick (@) aol (dot) com and we can look at dates!

Coupon Class Open To Public, February 14 (Class is FULL)

Attend a Valentine's Day Coupon Class

My new coupon class is finally finished!  While I will be cleaning up the class over the next few weeks I wanted to go ahead and get one class open to the public so I can get some more opinions.

I decided a class on Valentine’s Day would be perfect.

The class will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be held at 1214 Volvo Parkway, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  There are only 35 spots available and I anticipate they will fill quickly.  The cost per attendee is $12.

When I set out to create the new class I wanted it to be more step by step.  For those of you who have attended before you know there is a LOT of information.  For some people the class made total sense and they were able to go home, implement everything and begin their coupon journey.

Others got lost in the information.  A more step by step process was needed.  I also wanted more emphasis on meal planning in the class because I feel it’s almost as important to saving money as using coupons.  Just meal planning alone can save a significant amount on your household and grocery bills.

So I created my new class “7 Weeks to Savings Success.”  It still contains all the same great information about coupons, store policies and how to find deals.  But it also involves some electronic after class follow up as well as a step by step process to cutting your grocery bill over the next 7 weeks. Additionally I have created hand outs specifically for the class that let you make decisions as we go along.

I want this to be a journey we take together and by providing some specific direction I hope it can be.

The cost of the class is $12 per person and must be paid by Paypal in order for a seat to be held. No refunds will be given for ANY reason but if you need to transfer your attendance over to someone else that can be arranged.

Thanks so much to those who attend- I am excited to get your feedback!

Coupon Tutoring Open For October 2014

Coupon Questions

Probably three or four days a week I get an e-mail asking when the next coupon class is going to be and if I do one on one tutoring.  I have taught just over 600 coupon classes in the last five years (my record was 3 in one day) and 95% of them have been classes that are not open to the public.

This year I have done 8 classes open to the public one of which had over 350 people.  I was hoping this would help get everyone in but I still get requests all the time!

Also in 2014 I stopped doing one on one coupon tutoring.  I could not justify the amount of time it was taking with the amount I felt comfortable charging you all for my time.

So many of you have asked that for the month of October I am going to open up 10 coupon tutoring sessions- they will be filled on a first come first served basis.

The cost for the two hour class will be $50 and it is taught on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake, VA.  If you and a friend would like to split it the cost is $75.

There are plenty of ways for you to learn to coupon without paying for a class.  My youtube channel is full of videos that can help.  If you have friends who coupon they may be more than willing to meet you at the store when they shop.

But for those of you who think that the one on one time is what you need to really succeed this is your chance!  Just contact me and we can get a date on the books!

Raincheck Meaning

Raincheck Meaning

“What is a raincheck?”- I get asked this question all the time in my coupon classes.

A rain check is a slip of paper from a specific store that allows the buyer to return at a later date and buy a currently out of stock item at the sale price.

Have you ever seen a GREAT sale in a flyer, made a special trip to the store and they are out of stock?  It happens to people who coupon quite a bit but it can happen on normal deals as well.

To make sure you NEED a raincheck:

1.  Find an employee and double check that the item is out of stock.  It could be on an end-cap or in the back of the store.  If they have it that saves you from having to get the rain check and return to the store later.

2.  Make sure it is not a special promotion affecting the price.  For example if an item is only free because the store is having a triple coupon event, your rain check is not going to extend that event.  It is only for the price.

3.  Make sure the item is in the sales flyer- you can not get rain checks on clearance items or special sales like Doorbusters, Black Friday deals etc.

If both of those conditions are met it means you need a rain check.

Rain checks will vary a little bit from store to store.  At some stores, like Target, the rainchecks are processed through the cash registers and will print out on receipt sized papers.   In the bulk of stores they will be hand written by an employee.

As you go to check out let your cashier know that you want to get a raincheck.  This way the cashier can let you know if he/she can write the raincheck or if you need to go to customer service. This varies greatly by store.

The employee will fill out the slip of paper, including the product, its description, and the quantity (which will vary by store). Most stores in my area do not have expiration dates on their rainchecks but some stores will add them.  They can vary from 10 days (which honestly isn’t terribly helpful) to 90 days.  To make things easier have the store ad with you opened to the page with the item.

If they are STILL out of the item when your raincheck expires just get another raincheck!
