Book Download: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 1 $1.99

Right now on Amazon you can download Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 1 for $1.99 to your Kindle, PC or Smart Phone.

Boys don’t keep diaries—or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to.

It’s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley’s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend’s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, “Just don’t expect me to be all ‘Dear Diary’ this and ‘Dear Diary’ that.” Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.

How To Remove Those Pesky Ads From Your Kindle

This week thousands of you will probably receive or give a Kindle Fire.  And hopefully most of you will love it as much as I do.

Some of you will receive the model that has ads on it.  Some of you may not care- some of you may want them gone.

Fortunately you can do that- for $15.

Here are the easy steps to do it.

1. Go to the Manage Your Devices section of Manage My Kindle. This can be done right from the Kindle section of Amazon.  Click the PLUS Icon to display more information.

2. In the SPECIAL OFFERS column, click EDIT and follow the instructions. There is a $15 charge and you will see this amount before you confirm. This amount will automatically be pulled from whatever account is hooked up to your One-click. This DOES NOT come out of any gift cards you have applied to your account.

3. Turn the wireless on. The next time you connect the Kindle device wirelessly, the Special Offers will finish unsubscribing.

It’s that simple and then no more ads!

HSI The Styler Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron Hair Straightener $40.00 Shipped (Reg. $200)

With over 2,000 pieces of feedback and a near perfect rating I would say this is a good hair straightener.

Right now on Amazon you can get the HSI The Styler Ceramic Tourmaline Ionic Flat Iron Hair Straightener, 1 inch for $39.99 shipped.

After years of struggling with bad straightener my hairdresser looked at me and said “I know you are cheap but you need a GOOD ceramic straightener if you want it to work.”  I dropped $80 on a straightener and it turned out she was right.

Since this one is generally around $70 on other sites I would say this is a good deal.

The Dark Knight Rises (+Ultraviolet Digital Copy) $8.99

Wow!

I didn’t think this would get down to $9!

Right now on Amazon you can get The Dark Knight Rises (+Ultraviolet Digital Copy) for $8.99.  And if you order by 3 p.m. EST it will arrive by 12/24.

Of all the “most anticipated” movies ever claiming that title, it’s hard to imagine one that has caused so much speculation and breathless expectation as Christopher Nolan’s final chapter to his magnificently brooding Batman trilogy,The Dark Knight Rises. Though it may not rise to the level of the mythic grandeur of its predecessor, The Dark Knight Rises is a truly magnificent work of cinematic brilliance that commandingly completes the cycle and is as heavy with literary resonance as it is of-the-moment insight into the political and social affairs unfolding on the world stage. That it is also a full-blown and fully realized epic crime drama packed with state-of-the-art action relying equally on immaculate CGI fakery and heart-stopping practical effects and stunt work makes its entrée into blockbuster history worthy of all the anticipation and more. It deserves all the accolades it will get for bringing an opulently baroque view of a comic book universe to life with sinister effectiveness.

How To Actually GET Lightning Deals on Amazon

There are a TON of Amazon Lightning Deals every day.  Be sure to check them out!

If you are on A Frugal Chick’s Facebook page you have noticed the insane amount of Amazon Lightning Deals I have been posting.

They are launched as often as every 10 minutes and I always try to let you know about 10 minutes ahead about the best ones.  Or if I REALLY know about them ahead of time I will do posts like this one.

These deals often sell out in as a little as two or three minutes (some even less) so if there is a hot toy you want it can be tricky trying to get it!

Step One: Check out the Lightning Deal Page.  There are TONS of deals every day from the early morning to late at night.  Please notice the times are in PST- that requires some thinking on my part since I live in EST.

Step Two:  Look ahead and see if there is anything you want to buy.  Make a note for yourself so you don’t forget the time!

Step Three:  A few minutes before the deal becomes available go back to the Lightning Deal Page and watch.  As SOON as the item becomes available click on “add to cart.”    This DOES NOT mean purchase– it just means add.  Once it is in your cart you have 15 minutes to decide.

If you want to try it stick the item in your cart a few minutes before the sale starts.  Once it does look in the upper right hand corner and see if the lightning discount shows up.  IT WILL NOT SHOW UP UNDER THE ITEMS INDIVIDUAL TOTAL IN YOUR CART.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Step Four: If you miss it jump on the waitlist!  People add items to their cart immediately so the item appears to sell out in seconds. If they decide they don’t want it, the item becomes available again. The ones on the “Wait List” will have first dibs on the item.

I hope this gives you guys some strategy to help with the upcoming deals!
