July 12th Amazon is having their second Amazon Prime Day. They are promising over 100,000 deals world wide available to Amazon Prime members only.
Prime Day deals can only be purchased by Prime members, so the event is an obvious push to increase subscriptions. Amazon repeatedly mentions in marketing material that Prime subscriptions are available for free on a 30-day trial basis, with the obvious hope that during those 30 days the service will win customers over—or people will simply forget to cancel—and they’ll become paying members who cough up $99 annually and do a huge chunk of their shopping with the site year in, year out.
Here’s the thing- I have Prime and I love it. But I use it to listen to lots of music and watch lots of television. If you have a problem shopping it’s probably not a great item for you but almost everyone I know who has it loves it!
Okay so now the down side. Last year this sale was BAD. The term frequently used on Twitter was “yard sale.” People were looking for deals on higher end items and there were very few to be found. Amazon swears this year it will be better and they have way more electronics.
Plus beginning July 5th they will have some better Daily Deals to get people excited.
My suggestion? Just watch A Frugal Chick all day on July 12th or join the Frugal Chick Sales Facebook Room. I will find the best deals and let you guys know!
