About Me

About Me….

Hi!  I’m Laura.

Here are a few things you need to know:

I’m not your typical deal blogger.  I have no children and stink at DIY projects.  However my fiancee is excellent with home things so he helps me on occasion.  Countdown to April 2023 when I become a Mrs!

I LOVE my church, community theater and raw cookie dough.  I am an aunt, writer, a small business owner and vegetarian.  I live ten minutes away from my parents and my niece and nephews and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why I Started Using Coupons…

In September 2007 I started graduate school.  I was so excited to begin studying an area near and dear to my heart, Organizational Leadership (particularly Servant Leadership).  My company had agreed to reimburse me for a portion of my education so I jumped into my studies full steam ahead.  Fast forward to the end of the semester.  I turned in my transcript with my final grade and submitted for reimbursement only to have it denied.  I had two options: drop out of school or figure out how to pay for it myself.

I decided my education was worth the sacrifice.

I got a second job teaching voice and piano and balanced a full time job, part time job and full time graduate work.  When the extra income coming in wasn’t enough I decided it was time to cut back on expenses.  Coupons were a huge part of that.  I got excited about them and started telling friends.  Then in September 2009 AFrugalChick.com was born because my friends were sick of listening and surely SOMEONE wanted to hear.

Seven years later I still use coupons (though I do fall off the wagon occasionally [1]).  It has made a profound difference in my life.  I have learned how to live well on little and not place so much value of “things.”
