52 Books in 52 Weeks

Update: some of my readers have asked that I let you know ahead of time what book I am going to be reading for next week.  So the first book I am reviewing will be “Heat Rises” by Richard Castle.  (I got it from the library because it’s not available in paperback yet!)

I love to read.  Nothing opens your mind to new ideas like reading a book.  Whole worlds I will never seen become so real I swear sometimes I can feel what it is like to be there.

In the last year or so I have not read nearly as many books as I used to.  One of the few negatives to working at home is that work is always there.  Many times I find myself sitting down to read and then I will remember one more e-mail I need to send or one more post I need to do and the book never gets picked up again.  I know I am missing so many learning opportunities by not reading.

And since my city has amazing libraries it is even frugal!

So my goal this year is to read one book a week.  And to make sure I don’t cheat I am going to have you guys hold me accountable.  Each week (hopefully on Wednesday) I will do a post “reviewing” the book I read that week.  It won’t be anything in depth just a short blurb of what I thought of the book.

My taste in books is all over the place but it will mostly be mystery, true crime, biography, blogging books and the occasional fantasy novel.  By writing my weekly post I can tell myself I am working while I read!

I hope that this encourages you to read as well and maybe we can share some good recommendations!

Sounds like the start of a book club!? If so, count me in….with my new Kindle Fire, I’ve been downloading free books from Amazon. While I’m still reading book #1, I’m surprised how good it is so far. I look forward to your first review!
